We have fat pencils, and triangular pencils for students working on their pencil group. Neon pencils and short colorful triangular pencils for students reluctant to write. And sturdy pencil sharpeners that work on fat and regular pencils so that students can continue working with their preferred pencil. \r\nWe also started the year with supplies that help students get excited about learning. Kinetic sand, play doh, and large pony beads all helped students engage with letters and learning with enthusiasm. They made their names with clay, sand, and beads. They also formed other letters and words with these materials. \r\nMy school year got started smoothly and joyfully, thanks to these materials and your support.","fullyFundedDate":1746787188995,"projectUrl":"project/kid-friendly-supplies-make-kindergartene/9259027/","projectTitle":"Kid Friendly Supplies Make Kindergarteners Excited to Learn!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Diana","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp16894_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x510,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1707750884054","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mspaquinmorel"},{"teacherId":16894,"projectId":9199150,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to my project. We started a new Science of Reading curriculum last fall, and these supplies helped me to follow the Science of Reading across the literacy block. The Laugh a Lot Phonics books are a huge hit with my students. I read them with a small group, teaching them letters, their sounds, and how to sound out short words using their phonics skills. Then, they take these books and read them with their group and independently. This is the crucial step for helping my students gain independence with their reading. Our program includes phonics readers. But they only include 6 copies, which need to be used by the whole class! By purchasing these texts, I can now have students reading their own phonics books across the day.\r\nIn addition, the phonics blending games and dominoes also help students improve and practice their phonics skills. And they love playing these games! They sound out short words, and match them with pictures. They also have so much fun making CVC words with the dominoes. \r\nAll of these phonics supplies are helping me teach my kindergarteners to read in a joyful and authentic way. These materials are truly improving my class. My first grade students love the books and cubes. They are so much more interested in brand new materials rather than re-used items. I appreciate your thoughtfulness and support.\r\nI am using these books to teach my students phonics. I love the bright pictures and basic text that grab my students attention immediately. I've noticed that some of my most struggling readers are the ones who gravitate the most to these books as the have just the right amount of words on a page and are not too overwhelming for them.\r\nThese materials are really helping me teach using the 'science of reading' pedagogy that I am studying with my principal and colleagues.\r\nI am also using these books in small group instruction for guided reading. \r\nThank you so much for giving me the ability to meet the needs of my students in ways that follow best practices.\r\nWhile I am using the books in small groups, my other students are using the cubes and reading rods independently in centers. This is another great opportunity to engage with the phonics lessons that we are learning.\r\nYour donation has helped dramatically improve the engagement on the part of my students to learn to read :)!","fullyFundedDate":1747065392671,"projectUrl":"project/fun-materials-make-1st-graders-want-to-r/9258571/","projectTitle":"Fun Materials Make 1st Graders Want to Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Duran","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10000515_orig.jpg?crop=737,737,x0,y88&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744770234385","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10000515"},{"teacherId":372024,"projectId":8983102,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous gift to our classroom. This year, I have seen several students learn to read and many students transition from beginner picture books to chapter books. Al of them have made incredible gains in their independence in reading and reading at home is a huge part of this growth.\r\nBecause of you, my students will continue to foster their love of reading and find books that spark their interest. These materials have in fact completely transformed my small group instruction, helping me to move away from leveled books into fully decodable texts. \r\n\r\nMy students love working in their centers with the tactile Touch and Read Phonics Word match games. For my lower readers, they use the answer key to match the letters with the matching picture. My higher readers are making connections between the letters and the sounds, blending their lettters together to say words. This has been a huge jump!\r\n\r\nIn small groups, I am now able to focus my lessons on one precise phonics sound. For example, I show pictures of things with the a sound, and we say them out loud. Cat, tack, mat, rat, etc. I then show these short words with magnets, making the letter sound connection. Then, I distribute a book with the a sound from the Laugh a Lot Phonics kit. The text reinforces this sound with a story about Pam the cat, who is sad and then mad when jam gets on her hat. I now have enough books that my students can read these books during independent reading time. These materials have transformed my reading time, and are helping my students master phonics concepts. Thank you thank you thank you! Soon, we will move on to the blends and long vowel sounds materials!","fullyFundedDate":1733407141325,"projectUrl":"project/funny-and-fun-materials-help-kindergartn/8899327/","projectTitle":"Funny and Fun Materials Help Kindergartners Learn to Read!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Diana","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp16894_orig.jpg?crop=3024,3024,x510,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1707750884054","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mspaquinmorel"},{"teacherId":6709521,"projectId":8974629,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting my class with your generous donation.
