My student's have been excited to use and explore the new materials. They are so happy to have their own space and cubby in the reading room. They are feeling supported and organized when they come to read with me. We've been able to foster independence by using our cart to organize our materials and know what items go where. When they complete a task they are able to go directly to their drawer and have a personal place to place their work. \r\n In addition the slant boards have provided us with the much need physical adaptation to improve our reading and writing skills. These boards have improved our focus and time on task. Along with the boards our pencils grips have become a staple in writing that helps reduce anxiety and stress. We can use magnetic letters on it (probably our favorite), use dry erase markers and we've even used it for some felt story time!!","fullyFundedDate":1758721180874,"projectUrl":"project/materials-for-reading-room-that-supports/9748236/","projectTitle":"Materials for Reading Room That Supports Students With Autism","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Trout","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1448835_orig.jpg?crop=716,716,x341,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757534817160","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ktrout"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_31326","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":71,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":60,"percentAsian":22,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":11,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":45,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":"6.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.0,"schoolId":31326,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Whittier School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Whittier School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-diego-unified-school-district/whittier-center/31326"}
