Because of your generosity, students and teachers at Whittier now have access to high-interest reinforcement items that are truly meaningful. These materials are being used as part of a schoolwide cash economy, where students earn and work toward preferred items to support self-regulation, engagement, and positive behavior.\r\n\r\nThe impact has been immediate and powerful. Students who previously struggled to stay engaged are now motivated to participate, complete tasks, and follow routines. In the photos, you can see students using their earned rewards to play with transformers, build with magnetic tiles, and engage in imaginative and sensory-rich activities. These moments are more than play. They represent students practicing patience, making choices, and experiencing success. Students are sustaining attention for longer periods of time and demonstrating increased independence because they are working toward something meaningful.\r\n\r\nThese materials have also created opportunities for connection, communication, and joy across classrooms. Students are more regulated, more engaged, and more willing to participate in learning activities. Your support has helped create a positive, motivating environment where students can experience success every day. We are so grateful for your investment in our students and school community.","fullyFundedDate":1771025031368,"projectUrl":"project/building-self-regulation-through-meaning/10095005/","projectTitle":"Building Self-Regulation Through Meaningful Rewards","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Satter","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3998459_orig.jpg?crop=1920,1920,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760207729129","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/hage-satter"},{"teacherId":1448835,"projectId":9748236,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our reading room. My student's have been excited to use and explore the new materials. They are so happy to have their own space and cubby in the reading room. They are feeling supported and organized when they come to read with me. We've been able to foster independence by using our cart to organize our materials and know what items go where. When they complete a task they are able to go directly to their drawer and have a personal place to place their work. \r\n In addition the slant boards have provided us with the much need physical adaptation to improve our reading and writing skills. These boards have improved our focus and time on task. Along with the boards our pencils grips have become a staple in writing that helps reduce anxiety and stress.
