It was perfect timing as we started our routine of independent reading this week. When I addressed this routine during Open House, I shared with our families how lucky we are that so many people who are kind and generous enough to support students' interest in reading. I was proud to show how many new, diverse, and fresh titles are available thanks to our donors. \r\n\r\nBooks are a gateway to conversations, developing an understanding of others, and connecting students with other students and teachers. They are a tool I use to get to know students better. Students share about why they like certain books and I find out how it connects to their lives. Thank you for helping us build this academic and supportive culture in our classroom.
