We've used the acrylic markers and paint brushes to bring vibrant color to our themed projects. Recently, we paired a winter movie with the snowman kits, allowing students to build something tangible while they watched. We also used the flowers and wooden hearts for a \"friendship-themed\" session. These crafts give our 6th graders a natural way to sit with established groups. Which makes it much easier to start a conversation while asking to borrow a paint brush than it is to break into a crowded cafeteria table.\r\n The students were thrilled when they saw the variety of materials! The Shrinky Dink kits were an instant hit. They were excited to create their own design and shrink it into a charm. Even the boring essentials like the Clorox wipes and paper towels made an impact. One student mentioned how nice it was that we didn't have to worry about making a mess. It made the space feel professional and cared for.\r\n Now that we have a solid stock of beautiful rocks, wooden hearts, and acrylic markers, our next step is a \"Kindness Project.\" Students will be decorating hearts and rocks to leave as surprise \"desk drops\" for teachers during teacher appreciation week. Your gift provided the tools for our students to transition from feeling like \"the new kid\" to becoming active, creative members of our school community.","fullyFundedDate":1769178089650,"projectUrl":"project/lunch-club-a-craft/9758101/","projectTitle":"Lunch Club & A Craft","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Segale","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10278682"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_128273","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":null,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":57,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":6,"percentWhite":21,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":44,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":128273,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Grant TK-8 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Grant TK-8","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-diego-unified-school-district/grant-tk-8/128273"}
