These books have truly made a meaningful difference in our classroom.\r\n\r\nEach day, my students have opportunities to read independently, but we also have a dedicated time called DEAR (Drop Everything and Read), which is 20 minutes of uninterrupted reading. Earlier in the school year, it was a challenge because many students were not interested in the books available in our classroom library. Since receiving these new books, DEAR time has completely transformed. Students are excited, focused, and eager to read from the moment it begins.\r\n\r\nThese texts introduce and reinforce important reading skills such as building reading stamina, improving fluency, making predictions, understanding story structure, and developing comprehension through visuals and text. Series like Dog Man and Cat Kid especially support reluctant readers by combining humor, illustrations, and engaging storylines, which helps students feel confident and successful as readers.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has not only provided books, but has helped spark a love for reading in my students. Thank you for investing in their growth, confidence, and excitement for learning. Your support is truly making a lasting impact.","fullyFundedDate":1762461858670,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-bridge-to-literacy/9734291/","projectTitle":"Building a Bridge to Literacy!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Shegog","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8799426"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_32194","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":468,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":82,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":84,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":7,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.7,"schoolId":32194,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Iftin Charter Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Iftin Charter Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-diego-county-office-of-education/iftin-charter-school/32194"}
