From the moment they arrived, my students were immediately drawn to them, and their excitement has only continued to grow. Many of my students rely heavily on visual and hands-on supports to access learning, and these resources have made a meaningful difference in their engagement and participation. My students especially loved the puppets, which have made reading more interactive and engaging. \r\n\r\nThe snacks have also played a powerful role in our classroom. Many students choose them as incentives over traditional rewards like stickers, which has boosted motivation and participation. Students are more eager to complete tasks and attend speech sessions, helping create a more positive and welcoming environment. The Language Activity Boxes and Velcro fruits have also become clear favorites, especially for students who seek sensory input. These hands-on materials encourage communication, independence, and choice-making in a natural and meaningful way.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, I plan to build on this momentum by creating more visual supports tailored to my students' needs. I hope to develop core word visuals such as \"see,\" \"eat,\" and \"go\" to further support communication and engagement alongside these hands-on materials. By continuing to pair visuals with interactive resources, I aim to foster meaningful interactions and help my students grow in confidence and communication skills.","fullyFundedDate":1769177652532,"projectUrl":"project/communication-station/9888020/","projectTitle":"Communication Station","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Vanesa","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10347598"},{"teacherId":10301775,"projectId":9793408,"letterContent":"Our students have had a very positive response to the resources donated through this project. The mobile student store cart has made a tremendous impact on our school community by allowing us to easily move the store around campus during recess so that more students can access and use their positive behavior tickets. Students were excited when they first saw the cart because it provided additional space for merchandise and allowed more students to shop at the same time. Staff members were equally appreciative and agreed that the cart would make the store more accessible and efficient. Because the store is mobile, it can also be conveniently stored when not in use, helping us maximize our available space.\r\n\r\nBeyond the student store, these resources have expanded opportunities for students to connect and build community. We now have more lunch activities, including coloring supplies and games, which have helped students make new friends, learn more about one another, and enjoy meaningful social interactions. These activities also provide additional choices beyond physical games during recess. Our calming center has benefited as well, with new fidgets and calming tools that help students regulate their emotions when they are feeling overwhelmed. These tools create a safe and supportive environment where students feel more comfortable discussing difficult or personal topics. Moving forward, we will continue using these resources to strengthen our positive behavior program, foster student connections, and support the social-emotional growth of all students.","fullyFundedDate":1759723433014,"projectUrl":"project/a-rainbow-of-possibilities-growing-comm/9793408/","projectTitle":"A Rainbow of Possibilities: Growing Community and Positivity","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lopez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10301775_orig.jpg?crop=1500,1500,x0,y505&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1759722512853","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10301775"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53572","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":601,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":85,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":1,"gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"20.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":68.3,"schoolId":53572,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Hillside University Demonstration School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Hillside University Demonstration School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-bernardino-city-unified-school-district/hillside-elementary-school/53572"}
