Our students were immediately excited when they saw the Big Joe bean bag chairs, pillows, sit-upons, fidgets, and calming posters. They loved exploring the new space and were eager to learn how they could use it as a positive tool when they needed to pause, reset, and return to learning.\r\n\r\nWe have been using the calming corner throughout our school day, especially during moments when students feel overwhelmed, frustrated, or need a quiet break. Students can choose a comfortable spot, use a fidget, look at the calming visuals, practice breathing strategies, or simply take a few quiet minutes before rejoining the class. One especially meaningful moment was watching students begin to independently recognize when they needed a break and choose a strategy that helped them feel ready to learn again. They are learning that taking a moment to calm their bodies and minds is not giving up, but rather it is an important part of being successful.\r\n\r\nAs we continue our current classroom lessons and projects, students are practicing using these strategies so they can stay focused, persevere through challenges, and work cooperatively with their classmates. Our next steps are to continue building students' independence with emotional regulation while applying these skills to academic learning, group work, and everyday classroom challenges. Thanks to our generous donor, our students now have a welcoming space and meaningful tools that help them feel supported, confident, and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nWe look forward to expanding the theme throughout the classroom for the 2026-2027 school year.","fullyFundedDate":1755712870450,"projectUrl":"project/brighter-minds-through-a-calming-corner/9612971/","projectTitle":"Brighter Minds Through a Calming Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Albert & Mrs. Skaggs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10183001_orig.jpg?crop=1518,1518,x1223,y470&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755646101205","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10183001"},{"teacherId":8993279,"projectId":9485093,"letterContent":"Sonic- I greatly appreciate your generous gift to my 2nd and 3rd grade class.
