These tools can help students manage big feelings, stay engaged, and feel more comfortable and ready to learn.\r\n\r\nMy students were super excited when I announced that our classroom would be receiving new incentives from our generous donors! They were especially excited to learn that we would have new materials they could use for Fun Friday and hands-on activities. Their excitement has given us another opportunity to talk about setting goals, making positive choices, and working toward something they value.\r\n\r\nWe will also use the new materials to promote creativity, problem-solving, and STEM learning. Students will have opportunities to build with LEGOs and other materials, design and create their own structures, experiment with different ideas, and work together to solve problems. These activities encourage students to think creatively, practice perseverance, and learn that it is okay to make mistakes and try again.\r\n\r\nAs the school year continues, these resources will become part of our classroom routines, STEM challenges, creative building activities, and social-emotional learning opportunities. Your generous donation has already made a meaningful difference in our daily classroom routines.\r\n\r\nMy students use the cleaning and hygiene supplies throughout the day. Many of my students wash their hands after recess, after art, before lunch, and after lunch, as well as after blowing their noses. We also use hand sanitizer throughout the day to help prevent the spread of germs. Paper towels are used for handwashing and tissues are always available for students who need to blow their noses. I also use the cleaning supplies to regularly wipe down student desks and classroom surfaces.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, my students were so surprised and excited to see how much had been donated and shipped to our classroom. They were saying \"Wow!\" and were amazed by all the supplies. It was a wonderful opportunity to remind them that there are people who care about their learning environment and well-being.\r\n\r\nWe have many exciting projects coming up! Our class will soon be working on Fall and Halloween projects, followed by an animal research project. With all of the cutting, gluing, coloring, and hands-on activities involved, we will definitely continue to rely on these cleaning supplies to keep our classroom clean and organized. They were so curious and excited to read that they would even argue over who got to read certain volumes first! Seeing students this excited about books reminded me how powerful it can be when children find stories that truly capture their interest.\r\n\r\nThese books have also provided wonderful opportunities for students to practice important reading skills, including reading fluently, retelling events, identifying characters and key details, making predictions, and using context clues to understand new words. During partner reading, students take turns reading, helping each other with unfamiliar words, and talking about the story. I especially love seeing students who may not always be excited about independent reading become motivated when they have a fun, engaging book to share with a friend. Your generosity has helped create joyful reading experiences in our classroom and has encouraged my students to see themselves as enthusiastic and confident readers.
