Over 28 families (totaling over 100 attendees) from our school joined us in an evening full of literacy, laughter, and love! The two guest experts from SCOE (Sacramento County Office of Education) led our parents in an interactive read of The Rabbit Listened, a heartfelt and high-quality, socially-emotionally focused text. These books would not have been in the hands of all of these families without your donations, so for that we thank you again! \r\n Once the parents and guardians were familiar with some of the text questioning strategies for the story, the families put together a \"story sequence crown\". This strategy applies to so many texts students will encounter and was a great practice for our families with how they can engage in reading at home. There were so many great conversations and questions happening between adults and children during this time-it truly was an honor and a joy to be able to hear! The smiles on the faces of the students being read to by their loved adults were priceless. \r\n Myself and the entire Reading Intervention Team at Earl Warren enjoyed engaging with families during the event, asking follow up questions about the story, and helped to bridge connections between this text and others they may have at home. Thanks to some additional donations and local community partners, we were even able to have a \"free book table\" at the end of the event. Students and families were able to take home a few more read aloud books to be able to practice with and read at home. We truly hope that this inaugural event sparked a love of reading and equipped families with some tools to be able to engage in reading at home!","fullyFundedDate":1781408281784,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-love/10334277/","projectTitle":"Literacy Love","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Boltz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10529936_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1790526968942","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/learnwithmrsboltz"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_32832","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":405,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":20,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":64,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":2,"percentMultiracialImputed":2,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"22.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":78.8,"schoolId":32832,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Earl Warren Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Earl Warren Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/sacramento-city-unified-school-district/earl-warren-elementary-school/32832"}
