While technology is a regular part of instruction, many people may not realize how essential sound management is in making that technology effective. Headphones allow students to fully engage with digital learning tools without the distractions of a busy classroom, helping them stay on task and absorb information more deeply.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, students use technology for a variety of purposes, including listening to reading passages, completing interactive math lessons, practicing phonics skills, and watching instructional videos that reinforce key concepts. Without headphones, these activities can quickly become overwhelming due to competing noise. Now, with their own set of headphones, each student can clearly hear directions, narration, and feedback, which improves both comprehension and independence. Students no longer have to wait for assistance as often because they can replay instructions and learn at their own pace.\r\n\r\nWhat has been most exciting is seeing how much more confident and engaged students have become. There is a noticeable difference in their ability to focus during independent work time. The headphones create a sense of personal learning space, even within a shared classroom. Students are eager to use them and often associate them with \"important learning time,\" which helps reinforce positive academic habits.\r\n\r\nSeveral students, particularly those who are easily distracted or sensitive to noise, have especially benefited from this addition. For example, students who previously struggled to concentrate during online lessons are now able to stay engaged for longer periods. English learners have also shown improvement, as they can clearly hear pronunciation and language patterns without background noise interfering. Additionally, students who may feel self-conscious about listening to materials at a different level than their peers can now do so privately, which helps build both confidence and willingness to participate.\r\n\r\nAnother important impact has been the increase in student independence. With headphones, students take more ownership of their learning. They are able to navigate digital platforms, follow along with lessons, and complete assignments with less direct intervention from the teacher. This not only supports their academic growth but also builds essential life skills such as responsibility and self-management.\r\n\r\nOverall, these headphones have transformed how technology is used in our classroom. They have turned potentially distracting activities into highly focused learning experiences. Students are more engaged, more confident, and better able to meet their individual learning needs. This project has created a more inclusive and supportive learning environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed. We are incredibly grateful for this resource and the difference it continues to make each day.","fullyFundedDate":1764683227133,"projectUrl":"project/headphones-for-focused-learners/9802251/","projectTitle":"Headphones for Focused Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Garcia","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7358422_orig.jpg?crop=423,423,x0,y101&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1595825497597","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7358422"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_48425","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":511,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":11,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":19,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":38,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"26.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"UNCLASSIFIED","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":90.7,"schoolId":48425,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Abraham Lincoln Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Abraham Lincoln Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/sacramento-city-unified-school-district/abraham-lincoln-elementary-school/48425"}
