Students were so impressed with the quality of the books that were delivered. It was like bringing them to Barnes and Noble for a field trip! That same excitement was delivered to my classroom. Students were given time to explore all of the titles and spend time discussing their thoughts and curiosities. Students love the visual encyclopedias by Theodore Gray, including \"Molecules,\" \"Reactions,\" and \"Engines.\" These books are stunning pictorial explanations of complex science and engineering topics. \r\n\r\nI truly believe that literacy is the most important skill that students can learn in school. I hope that the new Science library books will instill a love and curiosity for reading and further develop students' literacy. Our MESA engineering class started the year off right with these wood marble run kits that brought structure and purpose to my students with hands-on engineering experiences for the first days of school.\r\n\r\nThe MESA class was thrilled to begin the year with a fun project. Marble run is an example of a \"Rube Goldberg\" machine which students will build by the end of the school year. These wood marble run kits gave kids a great springboard to learning about physics and Newton's Laws. They also gained a lot of confidence in their building skills and teamwork with new students. The marble run kits were challenging and engaging. Students couldn't wait to start working each day and often would ask during other classes if they could continue building.
