The sensory tools and art supplies have become immediate favorites. Students often gravitate toward them as a calming way to start our sessions or to express emotions they're not quite ready to put into words. The educational games and books have brought energy and joy into our lessons. They've helped make difficult topics like managing big emotions or navigating friendships, more approachable and engaging. The candy has been a fun and effective way to reward participation in social-emotional learning activities, keeping students motivated and involved throughout our sessions. Looking ahead, we're using these materials to begin a series of group counseling sessions focused on emotional regulation, self-esteem, and positive peer interactions. These resources have laid the foundation for meaningful growth, and I can't wait to see how much more we can accomplish.\r\n\r\nThank you for being such an important part of our journey. Your donation helped provide a space that doesn't feel like a typical classroom—and that's exactly what our students needed. When they first walked in, their eyes lit up. One student even asked, \"Is this room just for us?\" That feeling of ownership and emotional safety has been crucial for students participating in trauma-focused therapy using the CBITS model.\r\n\r\nThroughout the school year, we ran multiple trauma groups for middle school students and met individually with each student and their parent or caregiver to provide emotional support and psychoeducation on how trauma impacts learning, behavior, and relationships. This therapeutic space became a consistent, trusted place where students could practice emotional regulation, learn healthy coping strategies, and build peer connections. The comfortable environment made it easier for students to open up, take emotional risks, and begin the healing process. As we continue this important work, our next steps include preparing for the upcoming school year by inviting new students to participate in trauma-informed groups and offering continued support to those who are still working through challenges. Your contribution made all of this possible, and we are so deeply grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1736189719875,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-cozy-safe-space-for-middle-s/8817285/","projectTitle":"Creating a Cozy, Safe Space for Middle School Group Therapy!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Esme","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9776167_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y28&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755032668231","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9776167"},{"teacherId":9689012,"projectId":9054339,"letterContent":"I am thrilled to share the positive impact that your generous contributions to our \"Anti-Pest\" project have made in our classroom.
