While it is not a \"new\" text we are introducing to the class, as we had 10 copies, we are able to broaden the choice the students will have when it comes to selecting the texts and now we are also able to offer reading circles throughout the entirety of the AVID Senior year because we have enough copies for students.\r\n\r\nThis particular book is opening up conversation with students about how to build strong and healthy habits, while evaluating why they may have some bad ones and what they can do about it. Once a week, the students sit in small groups and read their chapters, followed by discussion and reflection. The students have access to real world and immediate scenarios which they can start building prior to graduation and for many years after.\r\n\r\nI believe our classroom is a special place and your contribution continues to remind students they are important and the very best versions of themselves is needed in this world. We use them almost daily in my Filipino World Language and Math classes to make learning more interactive and hands-on. One unforgettable moment was during our Filipino lesson on asking and giving directions. Students worked in groups of 2–3, rearranging printed landmarks of the Philippines on the whiteboards. One team member, blindfolded, had to follow spoken directions from their teammates to find the destinations using a marker. It was heartwarming to hear so much laughter as they intentionally made the directions as long as possible, even when the destination was just nearby! The excitement and engagement they showed truly made the lesson come alive.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new whiteboards, their faces lit up with excitement. They immediately understood that learning would be different—more active, more fun, and more collaborative. In Math, we use the boards during independent practice with a \"banner\" strategy, where students solve a problem, get it checked, and then hunt for the next one around the room. Watching them take ownership of their mistakes and learning has been incredibly rewarding. Thanks to your support, these whiteboards have already made a lasting impact on our classroom culture, and we look forward to using them for many years to come to continue making learning meaningful, energetic, engaging, and joyful! From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much.","fullyFundedDate":1738012986697,"projectUrl":"project/magnetic-vertical-whiteboards-for-engage/8841124/","projectTitle":"Magnetic Vertical Whiteboards for Engaged Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Thomas","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9609309_orig.jpg?crop=1984,1984,x331,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727632951688","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9609309"},{"teacherId":9829158,"projectId":8925810,"letterContent":"We cannot thank you enough for all of the support. The containers have greatly helped us keep everything organized, so students know exactly where to find their resources. We've also created a snack drawer filled with healthy options; this has been a game changer for those moments when students need a quick brain refuel to stay focused throughout the day. The algebra tiles have proven to be invaluable for various hands-on activities, allowing students to engage more deeply with the concepts. Plus, the lamination pouches have enabled me to create reusable materials, which is fantastic for helping students master their skills over time.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the materials, their excitement was palpable! They were thrilled to have new resources that brought a sense of order to our classroom. The snack drawer was a particular hit, and many expressed how grateful they were to have access to snacks, especially since many of them don't have any to bring from home.\r\n\r\nAs for what's next, we plan to keep the snacks stocked, as they've really helped foster a sense of community among the students. I've also started providing bottled water for those who forget their water bottles, ensuring everyone stays hydrated. Since students have enjoyed the hands-on materials so much, I'm looking for additional activities that can incorporate similar approaches. Continuing to organize our classroom will also remain a priority, making it even easier for students to access the materials they need.","fullyFundedDate":1731164318967,"projectUrl":"project/food-for-the-mental-soul/8923946/","projectTitle":"Food for the Mental Soul","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Burns","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9828300_orig.jpg?crop=2090,2090,x239,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1730934629676","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9828300"},{"teacherId":9829343,"projectId":8926163,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous donation of snacks and materials for my special Ed classroom.
