As a first-year special education teacher, working with students with Extensive Support Needs (ESN) has been my dream for a long time, and I feel incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to teach a K–2 Moderate/Severe ESN class this year. Your generosity has made a significant impact on my students' learning experiences, allowing us to access essential resources and materials. Together, we are creating an inclusive environment where each child can thrive and reach their fullest potential. My students are mostly nonverbal, but they are excited about learning, especially when they see the manipulatives that help them understand concepts better and enhance their learning. They are delighted, and their little faces light up.\r\n\r\nMy students have a wide range of abilities, and providing specially designed instruction that allows them to access grade-level content in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) is extremely important for their growth. Some of my students use wheelchairs, which can make accessing certain educational materials more challenging, particularly those that are not designed with accessibility in mind. Because of this, having adaptable and hands-on learning tools is essential to ensure every student can participate meaningfully in instruction. By incorporating manipulatives and flexible teaching methods, I strive to create an inclusive classroom where all students feel empowered to engage with the curriculum. Additionally, collaborating with specialists and families helps to tailor support to each individual's needs, fostering an environment of encouragement and success.\r\n\r\nRepetition and exposure to different materials and approaches greatly benefit students with extensive support needs. The materials provided through this project will allow me to better differentiate instruction and support students with various disabilities, including autism, deafness, blindness, emotional disturbance, intellectual disability, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairments, specific learning disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries. This tailored approach enhances their learning experience and empowers them to reach their full potential. By utilizing diverse resources and strategies, I can create a more inclusive classroom that meets the unique challenges faced by each student, such as adapting lessons for different learning styles and providing individualized support based on their specific needs.\r\n\r\nManipulatives are especially powerful tools in our classroom. They help students learn important concepts in a concrete, hands-on way. Through these materials, my students will practice foundational skills such as counting, sequencing, one-to-one correspondence, letter formation, writing, reading, and important life skills. Manipulatives also support the development of social and emotional skills like turn-taking, sharing, and communication.\r\n\r\nThese learning materials will provide my students with meaningful opportunities to explore, touch, move, and manipulate objects, helping them build confidence and develop a strong foundation for learning. Your generosity helps create a classroom where every student has the tools they need to succeed.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students and helping make our classroom a place where all learners can grow and thrive. Your support not only enriches their educational experience but also promotes a sense of brotherhood and belonging among the students. Together, we are building a brighter future, one where each child feels valued and empowered to reach their full potential. This collaborative effort is essential in nurturing their curiosity and passion for learning. As we continue on this journey, I am excited to see the positive impact we can make together in their lives. By working hand in hand, we can create an environment that inspires creativity and resilience. It's a privilege to witness their growth and development as they navigate challenges and celebrate achievements. These moments strengthen their self-esteem and foster a lifelong love for exploration and discovery. Together, we can cultivate a foundation that encourages them to dream big and pursue their aspirations with confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1754322739638,"projectUrl":"project/dive-into-learning/9499491/","projectTitle":"Dive into Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bravo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10093089"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_84457","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":535,"numTeachers":29,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":2,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":91,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"18.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.3,"schoolId":84457,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Lexington School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Lexington School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/pomona-unified-school-district/lexington-elementary-school/84457"}
