What began as a classroom novel has become a catalyst for self-discovery and community.\r\n\r\nYour generosity made that possible. Before opening the play, students participate in structured discussions centered on themes like decision making, impulsivity, and consequences. These conversations help build a strong foundation for understanding the choices characters make throughout the play. It was clear the resources had already sparked deeper thinking and personal connections.\r\nMy students were genuinely surprised—and thrilled—when they walked into the classroom and saw the transformation. The tablecloths, lanterns, and cozy discussion setups created an atmosphere that felt special and intentional. It completely shifted their mindset and energy. Many of them commented that it felt like they were stepping into a café or debate club, not a traditional classroom. That change in tone made them more open, reflective, and excited to participate.\r\nNow that we've laid the groundwork through these meaningful discussions, we're moving into our reading of Romeo and Juliet with a much richer context. Students will be tracing the consequences of choices made by the characters and comparing those decisions to the scenarios we discussed in our preparatory conversations. We'll be journaling, role-playing key scenes, and continuing to use the donated materials to keep discussions active and engaging. These next steps will help students connect literature to life, which is exactly what I hoped for when envisioning this project.","fullyFundedDate":1739212790290,"projectUrl":"project/bring-the-cafe-to-world-cafe/9056363/","projectTitle":"Bring the Cafe to World Cafe!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Cammon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8847261_orig.jpg?crop=768,768,x129,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1710363938221","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8847261"},{"teacherId":7751829,"projectId":8986164,"letterContent":"I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous support of our project on DonorsChoose. Your contributions have made a significant impact on our classroom, and I want to share with you how your kindness has benefited our students.\r\n\r\nThanks to your donations, we have been able to introduce exciting new resources into our classroom. One of the highlights has been our board game days, where students engage in fun activities while practicing American Sign Language (ASL). The arrival of new games, including Zygomatic Werewolves of Miller's Hollow, has been met with great excitement from the students. They were thrilled to explore these new games and integrate ASL into their gameplay.\r\n\r\nSeeing the joy on their faces as they discovered and interacted with the new materials was truly heartwarming. Your support not only provided educational tools but also fostered an environment where learning is engaging and enjoyable.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, our next steps include expanding on our current projects and lessons involving ASL. We are incorporating more interactive activities that encourage communication and teamwork among students, further enhancing their ASL skills through practical application.\r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for believing in our project and making a difference in the lives of our students. Your generosity has empowered us to create meaningful learning experiences that will benefit them long into the future.","fullyFundedDate":1736355111216,"projectUrl":"project/help-create-fun-fridays-lasting-memori/8986164/","projectTitle":"Help Create Fun Fridays & Lasting Memories for High Schoolers","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Burgess","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7751829_orig.jpg?crop=1080,1080,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1634923378935","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/missbur"},{"teacherId":7751829,"projectId":8697000,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our ASL Class and Club have experienced a creative transformation with the addition of a color printer. From colorful posters for awareness events to beautifully designed handouts that celebrate Deaf culture and history, the possibilities have been endless.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students has been seeing their designs printed in full color. It has given their creative projects a polished, professional feel and boosted their pride in sharing their work with the school community. They love the thrill of watching their vibrant creations come to life right in front of them.\r\n\r\nOne student, in particular, took on the role of our unofficial \"print coordinator,\" helping peers format and print their designs while mastering the printer's settings.
