Battle of the Books is an exciting annual contest, and many of the books aren't in our school library, or there aren't enough copies for students to always find a book they like. With this classroom library, however, everyone in my class has a huge selection to choose from.\r\nOn any given day they might read a book about the founding of our National Parks, the invention of the super soaker, a space-age whodunit, a time traveling comedy, or a heartfelt story about a boy and his family. Without these books I know some of my students would struggle to find new and engaging worlds to read about, and they now, instead, have a never-ending supply of great books: all because of you!","fullyFundedDate":1754411846449,"projectUrl":"project/battle-of-the-books-bonanza-for-brillian/9484142/","projectTitle":"Battle of the Books Bonanza for Brilliant 4th Graders!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Larson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4125911_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1720397151264","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/brannonlarson"},{"teacherId":9601589,"projectId":8933584,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our classroom is now filled with new educational games that have made learning more engaging, hands-on, and fun for our kindergarteners! These resources are helping students build foundational skills in literacy, math, problem-solving, and social interaction, all through the power of play.\r\n\r\nThe moment we unpacked the games, the excitement in the room was contagious. Students were eager to dive in, explore, and get started. One student exclaimed, \"It's like we have a toy store in our classroom!\" But to them, these aren't just toys, they're tools for learning and growing.\r\n\r\nWe've been using the games in small group centers and as part of our choice time rotations. For example, one matching game helped students strengthen letter recognition and early phonics skills, while a counting game challenged them to work together and use number sense. The best part? They're learning without even realizing it because they're having so much fun!\r\n\r\nThese resources have also supported social development. Students are practicing taking turns, using kind words, and working as a team.\r\n\r\nNext, we'll continue using the games as part of our summer prep activities, helping students review key concepts and stay confident as they transition into the next grade level. This is a beautiful, empowering book that helped us end the school year on a strong, reflective, and hopeful note.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, reading is more than just decoding words—it's about connection, confidence, and learning life lessons. I Can Do Hard Things was a book I had read at the beginning of the year and became our classroom \"motto.\" It allowed us to talk about perseverance, bravery, and inner strength in a way that made sense to five- and six-year-olds. We used the book to spark conversations about times we tried something new, stuck with a challenge, or supported a friend who was struggling.\r\n\r\nFor many of my students, this was their first book to take home and keep. Seeing the pride on their faces as they held their copy was unforgettable. Your support helped end our year with meaning, joy, and a reminder that even the smallest readers can do really big things.\r\n\r\nThank you for putting this book—and its message—into their hands and hearts.","fullyFundedDate":1740508572579,"projectUrl":"project/end-of-the-year-kindergarten-book/9021471/","projectTitle":"End-of-the-Year Kindergarten Book!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Mink","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9601589"},{"teacherId":9601589,"projectId":8833652,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, our classroom has been transformed into a space bursting with creativity and color! The colorful construction paper you helped fund has been used in so many ways—from hands-on art projects to visual storytelling, math models, and even social-emotional learning activities.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting moments was when students first saw the stacks of bright, beautiful paper. Their eyes lit up and hands shot into the air with ideas: \"Can we make paper flowers?\" \"Let's do a collage!\" \"I want to make a book!\" We recently completed a project where students created \"All About Me\" mobiles, using different colors to represent parts of their identity, family, and interests. It was a powerful way to blend self-expression and artistic skills.\r\n\r\nThese materials have empowered students to take ownership of their learning, and they're now diving into a new unit where we'll be making timeline posters and geometric shape art—again using the construction paper to add visual and tactile meaning to their work.\r\n\r\nYour support brought more than just supplies—you brought joy, confidence, and a burst of imagination to our classroom. From tiny toys and squishy animals to stickers and bracelets, the new prize box items have created a wave of excitement and positive energy throughout our classroom.\r\n\r\nThe moment we introduced the new materials, the students were thrilled. Their eyes widened, and the room filled with joyful chatter. One student whispered, \"This is the best day ever!\" The prize box has become a powerful tool for reinforcing positive behavior, encouraging kindness, and celebrating growth in learning.\r\n\r\nWe've tied the prize box into our classroom goals—for example, students earn tokens for showing respect, trying their best, or helping others, which they can trade in on Fridays. It's helped them build self-regulation and goal-setting skills in a fun and meaningful way. Right now, we're working on a \"Kindness Challenge,\" and the prize box has been a perfect way to recognize and reward the small, wonderful acts that make our classroom community stronger.\r\n\r\nThank you for giving our students something to look forward to, work toward, and feel proud of. The comparisons were straight-forward and the fractions stayed less than one. \r\n\r\nIn fourth grade, however, it gets complicated, and that complication creates real challenges for students' brains. Having these manipulatives has changed everything: they can build and see their work, they can compare fraction sizes easily, and they can store, in their long and short-term memories, images that help them solve problems on tests. The wooden 10-frame set has provided students with a hands on visual that is easy to transport around the classroom to support student-student communication to create an environment where students help each other learn.\r\nThe dice and clear spinners have also been an incredible help as my kindergarten students are able to practice and apply their learning in the form of mathematical games that are fun and engaging while also stimulating and challenging them academically.\r\nWhen my students saw these materials, they were so excited to learn what they would be used for.
