These materials were distributed at the end of the school year and have served as an excellent resource to kick off the new year and help build strong math communities. Teachers have been using the cards and dice to engage students in activating and reviewing prerequisite skills through interactive math games. This approach helps make abstract concepts more tangible and enjoyable. For example, in one high school classroom, students reviewed mean, median, and range by creating data sets with rolled dice and target numbers with cards. Working and playing together with a bit of friendly competition, students who were initially hesitant became motivated to do the math to see if their team reached the target number.\r\n\r\nThis game comes from a resource I created and shared with the teachers that includes a variety of games targeting skills from Kindergarten through high school, allowing them to meet the diverse needs of their classrooms. Looking ahead, teachers plan to integrate the cards and dice into upcoming lessons on data analysis and game theory, enabling students to apply their skills in more complex scenarios while continuing to review previously taught concepts. These materials will also support ongoing projects where students design their own games or experiments, fostering creativity alongside critical thinking. Thanks to your generosity, teachers now have engaging, hands-on tools to help students explore math concepts and build a strong foundation for future learning.","fullyFundedDate":1739223714538,"projectUrl":"project/building-math-community-and-number-sense/9090011/","projectTitle":"Building Math Community and Number Sense Through Math Games","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. DeCou","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3773799_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738282841728","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-buikema"},{"teacherId":6012159,"projectId":8993561,"letterContent":"I can't thank you enough for your generosity! I am extremely grateful, and my students are going to be very excited about their new costumes/ uniforms for their dance program. We have started collecting costumes and things over the years, but our new Dance 2 class is really trying to \"stand out\" and show that they are serious about dancing. These new jerseys will help make that happen. We love them because they come in various sizes and are very body inclusive, as well. In addition, the local high school wears a very similar style and my students look up to these students, a lot. Having something that they can wear that looks similar is making them really excited for their pep rallys and future performances. \r\n\r\nOur annual dance show is coming up, and the students are already excited about using the jerseys for their production. We have been using the portable speaker a ton since we are back and forth from our dance studio to the multipurpose room right now for staging, practice, and cleaning of all of the dances. \r\n\r\nThe students were SO excited when they saw all of the boxes of goodies for them! They were so proud to have uniforms. We are working on getting the uniforms customized so they say \"Dance\" on them, as well. \r\n\r\nNext year we are planning on checking the uniforms out to the students and letting them wear them for all performances. It really makes them proud to be a part of the dance class when they get to do special things like have a uniform. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has made such an impact on my students.
