However, as we began using the cell-phone jail consistently, students quickly started to recognize the benefits of having a distraction-free learning environment.\r\n\r\nWithout the constant temptation to check notifications, messages, or social media, students have been able to focus more fully on labs, demonstrations, discussions, and collaborative activities. I have especially appreciated seeing students become more engaged with their classmates and the science happening around them rather than their screens. What started as something many students were unsure about has become a routine that they increasingly appreciate. A significant amount of students in PUSD were directly impacted by the Eaton Fires, and many of our students are still affected by this. The custom number line, pictured in use during choreography spacing for our spring musical, has been especially impactful. Because it is tailored to our stage and can be installed easily with gaffer tape, we are able to move it seamlessly between rehearsal spaces and the auditorium. This has made rehearsals more efficient, improved staging precision, and will ultimately save both time and money while allowing us to take on more complex work onstage.\r\n\r\nThe spike tape and gaffer tape were essential for marking set pieces and props and for supporting various scenic painting projects. Glow tape was used to clearly mark stairs, platforms, ladders, and other potential hazards in the darkened wings, helping us maintain a safe backstage environment during performances.\r\n\r\nI am pleased to share that the production was both beautiful and highly successful. I taught them how to fold their butterflies and we practiced first and will be folding their watercolor paintings after we get back from spring break, which we will then attach to strings and hang up inside a large art installation that we are presenting for Open House, called The Dome, which will feature art by students that define the meaning of home.
