Since we are in a smaller space, using this as a one on one center to boost struggling students, has given us adequate space to lay out our classroom in a safer, more developmentally appropriate way. We no longer need to devote an entire working area, we can have students work privately in a space they feel more comfortable.\r\n\r\nBecause of learning loss from last year's students, and the fact that we have two grade levels in our class this year, this provides a great way to meet individual needs, especially for those students who need more support. The main use will be in literacy. We will work with students on writing their names, correct grip, letter names and sounds and others are working on spelling and reading 3-letter \"cvc\" words. We were able to not only read about the different kids of rocks but look at them and examine the differences. After lots of research, we wrote information essays, designed birthstone pamphlets, and created art inspired by our discoveries.
