All students grades TK-5th are using the belts and flags for a 4 week unit on spatial awareness tag games. Currently all students are participating in a game called Flag Tag.\r\n\r\nThe students loved to see all the new equipment and immediately noticed the difference between the new and old equipment. All students were proud that donor's choose to select our school. And you could see the pride in all their faces as they participated in new games with new equipment. They felt an immediate desire to protect and take care of their new equipment, it was a special moment to see in person!\r\n\r\nThis new equipment with adjustable sizing and easy to put on for students and staff has made these games more accessible to all age groups, as well as giving us more time to participate. The time we previously spent helping students put the equipment on correctly, can now be used for more game time. My students love their headphones! We use our district-issued Chromebooks daily during Independent Work Time, so while I pull small reading groups, the students can get practice with literacy and fluency skills on their devices to help them become stronger readers. I also created videos for my students to practice their weekly high frequency words independently. \r\nThe main program we use is Lexia Core 5, which addresses all levels of phonics instruction at the students' levels. The program adapts to their needs so they receive targeted instruction during the 40 minutes we use the devices daily. During this time, it is very important for students to clearly hear the sounds and words in their instruction so they can identify rhyming words, words with the same beginning sounds, individual sounds in words, etc. They also receive instruction in story elements, sentence organization, and other skills that we practice as a whole class but some students need some extra support to truly understand and apply the knowledge. Phonics and literacy instruction are so very important to set a strong foundation for reading in early grades, and these headphones are an important part of their individual journeys.\r\nIn addition to literacy instruction, the students also get to use their devices in their music and STEAM classes, so quality headphones are also important for our budding musical composers and future engineers. The students enjoy how comfortable the headphones are, how well they fit their ears, and the great sound quality. They are also noise cancelling, which further enhances their instruction.\r\nAgain, thank you so much, from me and my students!","fullyFundedDate":1757603243294,"projectUrl":"project/listen-and-learn/9541938/","projectTitle":"Listen and Learn!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Estrada","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8528512_orig.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1663901969733","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8528512"},{"teacherId":8122889,"projectId":8810169,"letterContent":"The new texts we've introduced offer a range of skills and lessons that are truly enhancing the learning experience in my classroom. In our classroom, reading is an interactive and dynamic process. We dive deep into discussions, asking questions that challenge students to think critically and reflect on the material. We also use a lot of collaborative activities—like small group discussions and role-playing—to bring the texts to life and make them more relatable. The goal is to create an environment where students feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and connecting with the text on a personal level.\r\nAs for which students are especially enjoying the new books, I've noticed some students who might have been more reluctant readers are now fully engaged. One student, in particular, has really embraced the new books about adventure and self-discovery. She's been bringing in her own thoughts and reflections to class discussions, which is a big shift from last year. It's amazing to see the spark of excitement in her as she connects with the material in a deeper way. Other students, especially those with a keen interest in fantasy or history, are really enjoying the rich, detailed worlds these books introduce. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and it's helping to foster a vibrant reading culture in the class.","fullyFundedDate":1728607253829,"projectUrl":"project/today-readers-tomorrow-leaders/8810169/","projectTitle":"Today Readers, Tomorrow Leaders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Tello","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8122889_orig.jpg?crop=2316,2316,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1633794997378","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8122889"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_53161","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":575,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":87,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"21.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":68.9,"schoolId":53161,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Della Lindley Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Della Lindley Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/palm-springs-unified-school-district/della-lindley-elementary-school/53161"}
