Thanks to your generosity through DonorsChoose, we received a collection of Spanish-language books and shelving, and my students have already fallen in love with them.\r\n\r\nThese are high school students earning their first foreign language credit, and reading in Spanish can feel intimidating at first. What makes these books so special is that they are written at exactly the right level for beginning learners. Students can actually pick them up and read them independently, which is a big deal when you are learning a new language. That moment when a student realizes they can understand a whole page in Spanish is one of the best things I get to witness as a teacher.\r\n\r\nWhen the books arrived, my students were genuinely excited. They crowded around the shelves, pointed out covers they liked, and started reading right there in class. Several students have already asked if they can take books home. That kind of enthusiasm is something I work hard to build, and your donation sparked it naturally.\r\n\r\nHaving a classroom library in the target language gives my students something that textbooks simply cannot: the experience of reading for pleasure in Spanish. That is how real language acquisition happens, and it is something many of my students have never had access to before.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in these students. You have helped make Spanish feel less like a class and more like a language they can actually use and enjoy.","fullyFundedDate":1774975650883,"projectUrl":"project/building-a-comprehensible-spanish-classr/10029549/","projectTitle":"Building a Comprehensible Spanish Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Hoffmann","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4751344_orig.jpg?crop=400,400,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755654429361","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/hoffmannspanish1"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_104108","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":700,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":78,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":11,"percentWhite":16,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":61,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":0,"percentMultiracialImputed":3,"gradesServed":"K - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Record","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":57.1,"schoolId":104108,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Riverside Preparatory Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Riverside Preparatory Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/oro-grande-elementary-school-district/riverside-prep-middle-school/104108"}
