My first graders have gotten so much use out of all the supplies, particularly the flexible seating materials. The wobbly stool is a class favorite and is so helpful for my kids who are very fidgety (about half my class!). The kickbands have been a great addition to the wobbly stool and allow for more kids to access movement while working at their desks. \r\n\r\nThe craft supplies have been very useful for our identity and belonging projects. We made a class banner based on the book \"Happy in Our Skin\" using the People Color crayons, glue, and kid scissors. Students enjoyed testing out the People Colors and comparing them to their own skin, and have learned that \"skin tone\" is not just a single shade. \r\n\r\nThe laminator, paper cutter, and masking tape have been game changers for me. They save me so much time and make my workflow so smooth. There is masking tape everywhere!! My whiteboards and floor are marked off with it, it holds up my pictures and posters, and it keeps cords out of the way. \r\n\r\nI am endlessly grateful that I was able to start off my teaching career in such a well-stocked classroom. It truly has made this new challenge feel that much easier. It has been especially rewarding to watch students who were once hesitant readers eagerly volunteer to read aloud and celebrate their own progress. Other students who are ready for longer texts are proudly tackling chapter book collections and returning to class eager to share their favorite parts.
