The Lakeshore Alphabet Activity Carpet has completely changed our classroom dynamic. Now, we gather on our beautiful, soft carpet for every session, and I can see the immediate difference in my students' comfort and engagement levels.\r\n\r\nThanks to your incredible generosity, we're building on the foundation these materials have provided in so many exciting ways. The visual schedule has been instrumental in helping my students with autism and pragmatic language delays understand session structure and develop routine-following skills. We're now working on having students create their own visual schedules for home routines, using the skills they've learned in our therapy space. The Calm Down Corner has become a cornerstone for teaching emotional regulation and pragmatic language skills - students are learning to identify their feelings, request breaks appropriately, and use coping strategies. \r\n\r\nThe organizational materials have freed up so much of my time from searching for materials that I can now focus entirely on my students' needs. Our alphabet carpet continues to be the heart of our phonics and articulation work, and we're planning to incorporate more movement-based learning activities that wouldn't have been possible on the hard floor. We have popular books, (Catman, Captain Underpants etc) and we have books about children with disabilities. I have a few students that wear sound cancelling headphones and I was able to find cute picture books about that. I was even able to share some of the stories with our General Education students to help them understand. It allows us to create customized fidget toys that serve as incentives and rewards, helping motivate students to engage positively in their learning and behavior. For kinesthetic learners and children who need to develop fine motor skills, these tangible, hands-on objects provide meaningful practice and reinforce their growth. Overall, the technology makes learning more interactive and accessible for a variety of learning styles. Students are thrilled by the ability to receive unique, 3D-printed toys as rewards, which feel special and fun. The tactile nature of these toys excites students, especially those who learn best by touching and manipulating objects. Additionally, the graduation gowns, hats, and banner created a memorable celebration, making students feel proud and recognized for their achievements, which boosted their confidence and excitement about learning.\r\n\r\nYes, students who are kinesthetic learners or those working on fine motor skills have especially benefited from the 3D-printed toys. Having these materials available also helped to reduce the amount of students requesting to or leaving in the middle of the school day due to concerns and issues related to wellness and self-care needs.
