We are committed to providing choice in reading for our students as it creates an opportunity for increased engagement and fosters a lifetime of a love of reading. By providing more diverse texts you have allowed students the flexibility to find a text that speaks to them and therefore increase buy in for independent reading and book club circles.\r\nThese books have been used to text various skills including deepening comprehension, analyzing characterization, and developing inferencing abilities. Each of the texts you have supplied for our classroom provide high level skill development opportunities at various ability points for our students.\r\nI have noticed in particular, many of our male students became much more engaged this year with the texts you supplied, especially The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian and The Crossover. This is a demographic that I have noticed has struggled with reading more and more in recent years. By supplying texts with contemporary, relatable male protagonists that are culturally relevant you have awakened a love in reading within these students.","fullyFundedDate":1750437211355,"projectUrl":"project/expanding-choice-for-our-young-readers/9343290/","projectTitle":"Expanding Choice for Our Young Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Olson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10031577"},{"teacherId":8830690,"projectId":9460510,"letterContent":"I want to thank you for your generous donations. Your contribution to our classroom continues to leave an impact. The new tools have provided an opportunity to explore creativity and experience an engaging learning environment. We've been able to use the donations for multiple subjects, such as reading and math. The students look forward to using them daily.\r\n\r\nAlthough, students use majority of these tools on the daily, I must say that their favorite are the book lights. During reading block students have a choice to read independently, they pick a comfortable place to sit and bring their books and lamps. We have a rotating system, so that all students have an opportunity to use them. One of my favorite tools are the hand held small white boards, we've used them to play review games. The student's are not the only ones that have had the opportunity to use these tools. During a family engagement day, parents had the opportunity to see what student's were learning and used the white boards to participate. \r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you for your donations.","fullyFundedDate":1752777243819,"projectUrl":"project/independent-learners-with-tools-succes/9460510/","projectTitle":"Independent Learners with Tools = Success","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Barriga","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8830690_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1752370285698","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8830690"},{"teacherId":9173134,"projectId":8300427,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donations!
