Instead of passively listening, students were actively engaged, following along in their own books. Our classroom was filled with quiet excitement as they turned pages together, gasped at surprising moments, giggled at funny lines, grew tearful during sad parts, and eagerly discussed what might happen next.\r\n\r\nWith these books, we have been able to dive deeper into important literacy skills in a meaningful way. Students practiced comprehension strategies such as answering questions, making predictions, visualizing scenes, and identifying themes like friendship, kindness, and perseverance. We also worked diligently on character analysis, using our books as tools to find examples of how Wilbur and Charlotte grow and change throughout the story.\r\n\r\nSome of the most special moments came when a few of my students began to see themselves as readers for the first time, whether by volunteering to read aloud, eagerly flipping pages, or thoughtfully answering questions. All 30 of my students were especially excited to share their hard work with their families during Open House, including their novel study, character analysis, narrative essays about befriending a talking animal, and their book reviews.\r\n\r\nThank you for making these moments possible for my students. Your kindness is making a lasting impact on them each and every day.","fullyFundedDate":1771722637360,"projectUrl":"project/brining-friendship-and-literacy-to-life/10095150/","projectTitle":"Brining Friendship and Literacy to Life with Charlotte's Web","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Prickett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9417631_orig.png?crop=332,332,x0,y43&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1775697121225","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9417631"},{"teacherId":1292549,"projectId":9273397,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of my fourth-grade classroom. Students were eager to explore, collaborate, and make discoveries. Next, they will reflect on their findings through writing, deepening their understanding of ecosystems and strengthening their confidence as young scientists.\r\n\r\nMoving forward, students will build on this experience by writing about their findings and reflecting on what they've learned about ecosystems and animal adaptations.
