All of my students, including my multi-lingual learners, enjoy and benefit from these books.\r\n\r\nThis nonfiction reader compares and contrasts two unlikely animals, like a killer whale and a great white shark, or a polar bear and a grizzly bear! Readers will learn about each animal's anatomy, behavior, and more. Then, compare and contrast the battling pair before finally discovering the winner! This nonfiction series is full of facts, photos, and realistic illustrations, and it includes a range of mammals, sea creatures, insects, and dinosaurs to satisfy all kinds of animal fans.\r\n\r\nOur library had three of these books, and they were always in demand. I knew we needed more! The kids are thrilled. My students were so excited when they walked in and saw our beautiful new reading rug. They love stretching out on the rug with a book for quiet reading time. We also come to the rug to work together on sounding out words, sorting words in the pocket chart and the kids will also partner read on the rug.\r\n\r\nWe are also getting lots of use out of our Sound Segmenting Trays. We often use them along with the Touch-Read Phonics CVC cards that we received. My students have been so happy to have new books that they love and want to read over and over again.\r\n\r\nThe Choose Your Own Adventure books have been really fun for my students to read. Usually, I let the students decide if they want to just read a paragraph or if they want, they can choose to read an entire page. Often my students who are struggling more with reading will opt to only read a paragraph, but with these books the kids often want to read the entire page. The Choose Your Own Adventure books have options at the bottom of many of the pages and the students get to make a choice about what they want to do next in the story. Since the adventures in these books tend to be short we have been reading them over and over again to help the students gain fluency and confidence in their reading.
