With the CD players and timers, students are now able to track their own progress, practicing along with recorded readings to improve speed, accuracy, and confidence. The blue/red dual-tip pencils allow students to color-code their \"hot and cold\" readings—visually seeing their growth from first attempts to fluent performances. This makes progress feel tangible and motivating. The addition of mini pencil sharpeners and batteries has kept our routine running smoothly, making it easy for students to stay organized and focused during timed practice.\r\n\r\nThe students are especially excited to use the CD players independently. The combination of simple, reliable tools and a clear system for tracking growth has made reading practice not just effective, but something students genuinely look forward to.","fullyFundedDate":1757340479698,"projectUrl":"project/special-education-reading-class/9690180/","projectTitle":"Special Education Reading Class","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cable","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3960047_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651436187126","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3960047"},{"teacherId":3960047,"projectId":8937755,"letterContent":"The student's eyes lit up with excitement when I showed them the cool project we were doing. I told them about it early on, so we could build some anticipation when the time came. We decided to create cards that had a poem about courage, team work, or dreams. Each line of poetry had to demonstrate figurative language of personification, metaphor, simile, alliteration, etc. This was a difficult assignment, so combining it with the circuit board made it much more enjoyable and led to a 100% assignment completion rate. \r\n\r\nI did the project in the ELA co-taught classes and a Special Education class. I've never seen such engagement, teamwork, and effort! Not all circuit boards lit up at first, so we needed some extra support. Students who really got how to make the circuit boards helped those that needed to redo it. \r\n\r\nThe project turned out beautifully! One student took hers home before I could grade it. She said she had already hung it on her wall! I loved hearing this joy!","fullyFundedDate":1731425459784,"projectUrl":"project/light-up-language-arts-with-circuit-boar/8937755/","projectTitle":"Light Up Language Arts With Circuit Boards!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Cable","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3960047_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651436187126","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3960047"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_48844","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":523,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":37,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":1,"percentWhite":29,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":60,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"21.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":95.0,"schoolId":48844,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Chaparral Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Chaparral Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/moorpark-unified-school-district/chaparral-middle-school/48844"}
