We are now using our laminating sheets, Velcro, and colored ink to create visual schedules, task boxes, and communication boards that my students can use independently. Each student has their own set of materials, and we've already started using them for literacy and math centers. Seeing their confidence grow as they complete tasks on their own has been truly inspiring.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new sensory table, wagon, and organization carts, their excitement was contagious! They immediately wanted to explore, pour water, and move materials around. The organization cart has been a game-changer for incoming worksheets, keeping materials like ELA and math worksheets, coloring pages, writing practice, and morning work neatly organized and accessible. The wagon has been especially helpful on our field trips and during Special Olympics, allowing us to safely transport student materials, sensory tools, and personal items while keeping everyone organized and on the move.\r\n\r\nNext, we are planning to integrate these tools into small group learning and outdoor lessons. For example, we will use the wagon and utility cart to bring sensory materials and worksheets outside during science or math activities, allowing students to explore in new environments safely. Our goal is to continue building independence, regulation skills, and engagement, while giving each child opportunities to shine in hands-on, meaningful ways. Your contribution has made all of this possible, and we can't wait to see where their learning goes next!","fullyFundedDate":1759161753666,"projectUrl":"project/visuals-sensory-play-and-structure-for/9512703/","projectTitle":"Visuals, Sensory Play, and Structure for Kinder–2nd Grade Autism Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Villanueva","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9734558_orig.jpg?crop=2400,2400,x0,y120&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753981250005","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-k-villanueva"},{"teacherId":8510146,"projectId":7038436,"letterContent":"The impact that these centers had for my students were that it allowed for instruction to be engaging and impactful for my first graders. Having shelves that allow students to independently access the tools they need has made a significant difference in my classroom. These shelves have not only increased student independence but also created a more accessible environment for everyone. By being able to reach and use the materials themselves, students can engage more actively in their learning.\r\n\r\nOne of the key ways this setup has helped is by supporting our vowel activities. The tools available on these shelves have made it easier for students to participate in both short and long vowel practice centers. Whether it's phonics games, flashcards, or manipulatives, students can easily grab what they need, dive into their activities, and practice at their own pace. This has made the centers more engaging, allowing for more hands-on, meaningful practice that caters to all learning styles.","fullyFundedDate":1669777634461,"projectUrl":"project/first-grade-centers/7038436/","projectTitle":"First Grade Centers!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Murillo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8510146_orig.jpg?crop=1094,1094,x220,y225&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1657466253464","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8510146"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_90463","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":381,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":5,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":83,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"20.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_MIDSIZE"},"inStateSupporters":76.1,"schoolId":90463,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Martin Luther King Jr School of the Arts on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Martin Luther King Jr School of the Arts","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/monterey-peninsula-unified-school-district/king-s-school/90463"}
