Thanks to you, they've been able to explore meaningful cultural lessons using high-quality art materials that truly elevated their work. My 5th graders learned about the quetzal and Latin American artists inspired by Central and South American birds, creating vibrant imagery for our school ofrenda with the new tempera cakes and specialty paper. My 6th graders used the same materials to design their own alebrijes, proudly adding their imaginative and colorful creations to our display.\r\n\r\nWhen I opened the box of supplies, my students cheered. They were amazed that people who have never met them wanted to support their artmaking. I also shared images of Evelyn's paintings with them so they could see the artist whose life and work inspired your gift. They were immediately drawn to the bold, joyful colors she used, and it felt like such a beautiful connection the vibrant palettes in her artwork matched perfectly with the bright, richly pigmented materials they now get to paint with. It made the experience feel even more meaningful and personal for us.\r\n\r\nWe've also been exploring the differences between tempera cakes and watercolors and how the new paper allows them to blend, layer, and experiment with confidence. The clear-handled brushes in different shapes and sizes have become instant favorites. As we move into our next unit on landscapes and one-point perspective, many students have already asked if they can use the new supplies for their final pieces.\r\n\r\nYour dedication \"May you and your students have a wonderful school year filled with lots of creating, painting, learning, hope, joy and community\" has truly come alive in our classroom. Your generosity, given in honor of Evelyn and her artwork, has brought an extra layer of inspiration and brightness to my students' creativity. Thank you both for making such a meaningful difference for our young artists.","fullyFundedDate":1757866571220,"projectUrl":"project/colors-of-culture-a-hispanic-heritage-m/9694849/","projectTitle":"Colors of Culture: A Hispanic Heritage Month Watercolor Experience","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Morgan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10246900"},{"teacherId":2911122,"projectId":9165697,"letterContent":"THANK YOU! I cannot tell you how much we love these water tables!!! They are the best on the market...but we will be asking for one more--but big! These tables are clear, have a drain and have a light but sturdy frame which allows us to empty them , clean them and store them with so much more ease. That means the limited grown ups available...have more time to get them out and USE them more often. \r\nTHANK YOU!\r\n We started with simple natural shells and water in the tables...and it was so popular we had to set a timer, and practice taking turns!! The entire T-K and K were allowed to use it through out the day at their play times! After a few days we set up a sink and float station and the little scientists had to put selected items into the water and sort on the nearby table by which things would sink or which would float. We switched to small medium and large sail boats and plastic bears to learn about capacity and how many bears could each boat carry without sinking. Fun, laughter, and group problem solving (or the opportunity to practice conflict resolution and social exchanges with adult support in a high-interest moment!) We've added colored water and ocean animals, and used them to wash toys and clean the room for summer break! So many kids are choosing to do hands on, real science experiments during free play because you made a donation. I am personally thankful...but even more appreciative for what these opportunities bring to our little kids.","fullyFundedDate":1742497306019,"projectUrl":"project/sensory-and-science-play-for-littles/9165697/","projectTitle":"Sensory and Science Play for Littles","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Varner","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2911122_orig.jpg?crop=426,426,x106,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1669702482901","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/varnert-k"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_29102","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":532,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":54,"percentAsian":37,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":9,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":40,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"31.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.5,"schoolId":29102,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Plymouth Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Plymouth Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/monrovia-unified-school-district/plymouth-elementary-school/29102"}
