This has allowed us to explore essential literacy skills, including identifying themes, analyzing character development, and making connections between Greek mythology and modern life. Students are practicing close reading, citing text evidence, and building the confidence to share their interpretations out loud.\r\n\r\nReading in our classroom has become an interactive experience. Instead of me reading aloud while others listen, every student has the book in their hands. They follow the text, highlight passages that stand out, and eagerly jump in to predict what will happen next. Our conversations are lively, and students are discovering that books are not just assignments—they're adventures.\r\n\r\nOne of the most joyful parts of this project has been seeing particular students light up. A reluctant reader who usually avoids chapter books has not only kept pace with the class but asked if he could borrow the book over the weekend \"just to see what happens next.\" Another student, who often struggles with confidence, proudly explained to her peers how Percy's challenges reminded her of her own, showing how deeply the themes resonate.\r\n\r\nEvery child deserves to see themselves as the hero of a story, and with Percy Jackson, my students are doing just that. Thank you for making it possible for them to step into this world together, grow as readers, and discover that their voices and ideas matter.","fullyFundedDate":1746785785904,"projectUrl":"project/heroes-in-the-making-a-percy-jackson-no/9326830/","projectTitle":"Heroes in the Making: a Percy Jackson Novel Study","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7847417"},{"teacherId":9591870,"projectId":8917435,"letterContent":"I want to take a moment to share how your generosity is making a meaningful difference in our classroom. Thanks to your support, our students now have access to high-quality headphones that are transforming the way they learn every day.\r\n\r\nOne of the most exciting aspects of this new addition is the sense of independence it gives our students. They love being able to control their learning environment, whether by listening to engaging stories on Amplify, practicing phonics with clear audio guidance, or tackling fun math challenges in Starfall. The excitement on their faces when they master a new concept is truly priceless.\r\n\r\nSome students have especially embraced this technology. A few of my students, who once found reading to be a challenge, now follows along with Amplify audiobooks while reading the text, building confidence and fluency. Another student, has been using Starfall to practice math skills in a way that feels like a game, turning what used to be a struggle into something fun and rewarding. These tools are not just enhancing their learning—they're opening doors to new possibilities.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping make this possible. These headphones has made such a big difference in our classroom. We use them all the time for tests and independent work, and they've really helped students focus better. During tests, the headphones block out distractions, so everyone can concentrate and do their best. For independent work, they let students listen to audio materials without disturbing others, which makes learning more personalized and effective. This is especially true for the students who struggle with reading who can now easily use their text to speech function. \r\n\r\nOverall, having these headphones has made our days so much smoother.
