Our class recently took our PE time to explore the new equipment. One game that was fabulous for our class in building teamwork was playing kickball for the first time all year. With our bases in a bag kit, we had the perfect set up to work on our kickball baseball skills. What an amazing time. \r\n In addition to kickball, we were able to enjoy some PE rotation time with our grade level peers. During these rotations, we were able to host relay races with jump ropes and balls, bean bag games, and soccer! Having our own specialized equipment has given us a sense of ownership and love for team games.\r\n Finally, as part of our donations we were gifted with indoor equipment. Our yoga balls have proven to be an outstanding flexible seating option for many students in our class who need alternative seating. Students are able to focus more with these optional seating choices. We have also learned to take turns and share equipment with our own class and the other classes in fourth grade.\r\n Overall, this equipment has been a tremendous blessing to our class. When the boxes starting coming in, we opened them one at a time. It was so exciting to see new classroom tools come to life in our room. \r\nThe first box we opened was tempra paints. Our old paints were so dried up, that we had to mix them with water before we could paint. Now, our paint flows smoothly and we can enjoy our creations. \r\nThe next box that we opened was our drying rack for our art. It was pre-assembled, which meant we could start painting right away. All of our watercolor designs have been able to dry safely and quickly in this rack by our classroom door. When people see it, they notice our artwork and comment how cool this drying rack is. \r\nAt last, we opened brand new drawing pencils and fresh watercolor paper. It was amazing because we could create on large paper instead of our teacher having to cut the expensive paper in half all the time. What an outstanding thing to donate to us. We really do appreciate it. \r\nWith all of your donations, we have been able to enjoy mixing art in other subject areas and look forward to making more amazing creations.","fullyFundedDate":1731779341915,"projectUrl":"project/mixing-art-and-science-in-elementary-sch/8748752/","projectTitle":"Mixing Art and Science in Elementary School","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stillman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp254691_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1679529069928","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/stillman"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_96507","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":881,"numTeachers":32,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":24,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":49,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"27.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":89.7,"schoolId":96507,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Southshore Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Southshore Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/menifee-union-school-district/southshore-elementary-school/96507"}
