In kindergarten, students are just beginning to connect sounds, letters, and words, and Lexia gives them practice that is tailored to their individual level. The headphones make a huge difference because students can clearly hear the directions, songs, and phonics sounds without distractions. This allows them to focus, work independently, and build confidence while I am free to support small groups or one-on-one instruction.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for my students has been having their own special headphones that fit comfortably and make them feel like \"big kids\" doing important learning. They love being able to hear the letter sounds, stories, and celebrations in Lexia so clearly, and they are so proud when they pass a level. I've seen some of my quieter students really shine—they are more willing to try challenging activities when they can work at their own pace and hear the instructions privately. One student who was hesitant to participate in whole-group phonics is now eager to log in each day and has made wonderful progress recognizing letter sounds.\r\n\r\nYour donation is helping build strong reading foundations for our youngest learners. These headphones are used every day, and they are giving my students the tools they need to stay engaged, practice important skills, and feel successful. My students and I are already putting the Number STAX blocks, Ten Frame Sensory Bubble Poppers, Frog Balance sets, and Dive Into Shapes geometry kit to good use. These resources are helping us build a strong foundation in number sense, problem-solving, and early geometry through hands-on exploration. During math centers, students love stacking the Number STAX blocks to practice counting and place value, popping out numbers on the Ten Frame boards, and balancing frogs to see math equations come to life. With the Dive Into Shapes set, students have started building 2D and 3D structures, which has opened the door for exciting conversations about shapes, sides, and angles.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students' excitement filled the room. They immediately gathered around the Frog Balance set and began experimenting with how many frogs it would take to keep the scale even. One student proudly shouted, \"I made a triangle tower!\" while using the Dive Into Shapes pieces to build his own design. Their joy and curiosity showed me how powerful these hands-on tools are for sparking engagement and deeper learning.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will be using these materials to strengthen addition, subtraction, and problem-solving skills while also diving into early geometry concepts. I plan to incorporate small group challenges where students use the geometry set to create specific shapes or structures and explain their reasoning to classmates. These activities not only strengthen math skills but also encourage teamwork, communication, and creativity. Your support has truly transformed our classroom into a more interactive and joyful learning environment, and I cannot thank you enough for making this possible.","fullyFundedDate":1757423269026,"projectUrl":"project/building-number-sense-through-play/9481113/","projectTitle":"Building Number Sense Through Play","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Freeman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8422642_orig.jpg?crop=361,361,x79,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1689031698033","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8422642"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_74083","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":703,"numTeachers":30,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":18,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":59,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","percentHawaiianImputed":1,"percentMultiracialImputed":11,"gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"23.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.3,"schoolId":74083,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Freedom Crest Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Freedom Crest Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/menifee-union-school-district/freedom-crest-elementary-school/74083"}
