Your gift has already begun to create a meaningful impact on our learning community, and I want to share how deeply it has touched our daily experiences.\r\nIn our class, books are more than tools for literacy—they are windows, mirrors, and doors. They help students see themselves, understand others, and imagine possibilities beyond the walls of our school. Since receiving your donation, I've watched students gravitate toward new authors, explore stories they wouldn't have reached for before, and read with a new spark of curiosity.\r\nOne of my favorite moments happened last week when a student who rarely volunteers to read chose a picture book from your donation pile. As we read together, the room grew quiet, and by the last page several students were eager to discuss the illustrations and the message behind them. Picture books have a special power to build empathy and understanding, and I saw that power in action right in front of me.\r\nWe've also been discovering the unique voices of different authors. During our independent reading time, students have been excited to compare writing styles—how one author makes them laugh, another makes them think, and another helps them feel seen. These conversations, sparked simply by having access to more books, have deepened their appreciation for storytelling and strengthened our classroom culture.\r\nYour generosity has not only filled our shelves; it has filled our days with joy, questions, connections, and new ways of seeing the world. Thank you for believing in the importance of literacy and for investing in our young readers. The impact of your gift will continue to grow with every page they turn.","fullyFundedDate":1758855510042,"projectUrl":"project/bring-books-to-life-in-our-classroom/9496595/","projectTitle":"Bring Books to Life in our Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Huber","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1576257_orig.png?crop=295,295,x0,y137&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1724097802906","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1576257"},{"teacherId":9815451,"projectId":9237250,"letterContent":"I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your generous support of my classroom through DonorsChoose. Thanks to your kindness, we received a wonderful set of art supplies that have already made a big impact in our learning environment.\r\n\r\nThe oil pastels were used to create beautiful fall leaves as part of a seasonal art project. The students were so engaged in exploring color blending and texture as they brought autumn to life on paper. We also used the crayons to color American flags during a thoughtful project centered around September 11. It was a meaningful way for students to express themselves while learning about an important moment in our history.\r\n\r\nThe excitement on their faces when they saw all the new supplies was truly heartwarming. These materials have not only enhanced our projects but have also sparked creativity and joy in the classroom. The black lights, neon drumsticks, and glowing visuals transformed the classroom into an immersive space where students felt like they were part of something magical and memorable. The lower grades dove into an under-the-sea theme, playing rhythm sticks, movement activities with scarves, and singing ocean-themed songs. The upper grades traveled to a galaxy far, far away with our Star Wars theme. They played bucket drums, conducted a glow version of the Jimmy Fallon Star Wars choir, and tackled a rhythm challenge game, all while surrounded by the glow of the galaxy. The real magic came from hearing the gasps and squeals of excitement as students stepped from the bright outdoors into the dark, glowing classroom, complete with ambient aquarium sounds or Rey's Theme from Star Wars in the background. Across both campuses, students talked about the glow lesson long after it ended, showing that it not only strengthened their musical understanding but also built joy, motivation, and a sense of belonging in our music program.
