When the materials arrived, students were immediately excited to see the colorful pencil boxes, Play-Doh containers, and mini whiteboards. One of our first activities used the Play-Doh to strengthen fine motor skills as students rolled, pinched, and shaped letters of their names. Using their personal whiteboards and markers, students practiced drawing shapes, writing letters, and solving simple math problems in a low-pressure way that encouraged participation and confidence. The sensory beads and fidget toys have also been incredibly helpful for students who need support staying calm and focused during transitions.\r\n\r\nThese materials have helped create structure and independence in our classroom. Each student now has a designated pencil box with supplies they can access on their own, which has improved organization and responsibility. The whiteboards and erasers allow students to try, make mistakes, and try again—an essential part of early learning. The fidget tools have supported self-regulation, especially for students who benefit from sensory input, allowing them to remain engaged during instruction rather than feeling overwhelmed.\r\n\r\nNext, we will continue using these materials to support early literacy and math lessons, including letter formation, counting activities, and collaborative small-group work. Students are building confidence as learners and learning how to manage materials responsibly. Because of your support, our classroom is a more engaging, supportive, and joyful place to learn. Thank you for making such a meaningful difference in our students' early educational experience.","fullyFundedDate":1767759408684,"projectUrl":"project/pequeos-aprendices-hands-on-learning-f/9978383/","projectTitle":"Pequeños Aprendices: Hands-On Learning for Our TK Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gutierrez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10395329_orig.jpg?crop=1242,1242,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1767417579404","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10395329"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_29460","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":475,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":94,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"17.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":72.9,"schoolId":29460,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Roosevelt Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Roosevelt Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/lynwood-unified-school-district/roosevelt-elementary-school/29460"}
