As students tested and observed just how much bacteria can remain on their hands, their eyes widened in pure amazement. The room buzzed with shock, curiosity, and lots of \"No way!\" reactions. That hands-on experience made the importance of proper hygiene real in a way no textbook ever could. It sparked thoughtful discussions about health, germs, and daily habits — learning that truly stuck with them.\r\n\r\nYour support has also allowed us to integrate film into our lessons. Watching Osmosis Jones has been an engaging and memorable way for students to understand how the human body fights illness. They connected scientific concepts to the characters and storyline, which made complex health topics both accessible and fun. In the future, we are excited to watch The Martian, which will help us explore themes of science, problem-solving, survival, and space exploration. These films bring science to life in ways that capture their imagination and deepen understanding.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the students were thrilled. They immediately asked when we could start the labs. My class truly thrives on hands-on projects — they love being scientists, experimenting, observing, and discovering for themselves. Seeing their excitement reminded me of why experiential learning is so powerful.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we will soon begin our unit on plate tectonics, Pangaea, Earth's formation, and natural disasters. The upcoming plate tectonics lab will allow students to model how Earth's plates move and interact. Instead of just memorizing vocabulary, they will see and demonstrate how mountains form, why earthquakes happen, and how continents once fit together. This experiment will make abstract concepts tangible and meaningful.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, our classroom is filled with curiosity, engagement, and authentic scientific discovery. Thank you for investing in my students and for giving them opportunities to explore science in action. Your generosity is making a lasting difference.","fullyFundedDate":1763515194319,"projectUrl":"project/science-in-action-hygiene-labs-plate-t/9896377/","projectTitle":"Science in Action: Hygiene Labs, Plate Tectonics, Learning Through Film","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Garrett","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10350861"},{"teacherId":1333373,"projectId":9711652,"letterContent":"Your donation of over the ear headphones has had a fantastic effect on our classroom dynamics. I have a rotation for every class so that every student in my classes gets a chance to sit on the chairs in the reading corner. My students were ecstatic when they saw the reading corner. Also, the snacks that were donated have helped tremendously as I have several students who have benefited from them.
