I explained to the class what each item was and how we will be using it. These items that you graciously donated complete our classrooms calming place. It has been a daily visited area my the students in my class. \r\nWhen the students need a moment to calm their emotions they now have a place to take that break. The mat has given them an area of soft ground to sit on, and the weighed blanket the additional support to help them self regulate. My students tell me they need a break, go to the calming place and take a few minutes to process what they are feeling. This space allows to take a minute and then rejoin us ready to learn!
