The materials have created a peaceful space where students can take a break, breathe, and reset when they feel overwhelmed. Big feelings come in at any moment and my students know that our classroom has a space where they can reset and make good choices, lie looking at the sensory bottle, squeezing a pillow, instead of yelling. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, their reactions were priceless. They gasped with excitement, and immediately asked if they could try the tent. They eagerly explored the sensory bottles, squeezed the fidgets, and snuggled into the soft pillows. Their joy and curiosity showed just how much they appreciated having a cozy, welcoming space in our classroom.\r\n\r\nMy goal is to continue supporting students in recognizing their emotions and using the calming space as a tool to regulate throughout the day. We are currently working on lessons that help students understand \"big feelings\" and make choices that help them stay focused and ready to learn. These new resources will play an important role in helping students build independence, confidence, and self-regulation skills as we move forward with our classroom projects.","fullyFundedDate":1755757710251,"projectUrl":"project/a-cozy-corner-for-big-feelings/9585984/","projectTitle":"A Cozy Corner for Big Feelings","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Estrada","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/4921855"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_101266","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":398,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":93,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":96,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"20.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":84.0,"schoolId":101266,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Vista Del Valle Dual Language Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Vista Del Valle Dual Language Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/valley-region-elementary-school8/101266"}
