We are using the books for whole-class reading, partner discussions, and independent reading. One of my favorite moments has been hearing students share their thoughts about the characters and make connections to situations they have experienced with their own siblings, friends, and classmates.\r\nWhen my students first received the books, they were excited to have their own copy to hold and follow along with. Many students immediately started looking through the pages and asking questions about what would happen next. Having enough copies for our classroom has made it easier for everyone to participate in our reading activities.\r\nOur next step is to continue reading The Lemonade War and dive deeper into the characters, conflicts, and lessons in the story. Students will continue gathering evidence from the text and using their ideas in discussions and written responses. The games and activities have made practicing letters feel more like play than work. Students are using the Find the Letter Activity Center, Pop & Learn! Letters & Numbers Game, and alphabet matching games to practice recognizing uppercase and lowercase letters, matching letters, and building confidence with the alphabet. One of the best moments has been watching students work together to find and match letters while proudly calling out the letters they recognize.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new materials, they were immediately excited to explore the games and choose activities. These resources have given them more opportunities to practice important early literacy skills in a fun and hands-on way. Students who may be hesitant to practice letters on paper are much more willing to participate when they can learn through a game.\r\n\r\nOur next step is to continue building letter recognition and helping students become more confident with the alphabet. We will use these activities during small-group learning, centers, and independent practice. As students become more comfortable identifying letters, we will begin connecting those letters to their sounds and to words they see in their everyday lives. We also discuss vocabulary, author's message, and how the author develops the plot.\r\nReading in my classroom looks different throughout the week. Sometimes we read together as a class and stop to discuss important parts of the story. Other times, students read with a partner or independently while I work with small groups. I like giving students opportunities to talk about what they are reading because it helps them explain their thinking and learn from one another.\r\nI have students who especially enjoy having their own copy of Frindle because they can follow along, make connections, and talk about the story with their classmates. The squishes have also been a wonderful addition to our Calm Corner. Some students enjoy having a quiet space where they can take a short break, reset, and return to learning ready to participate. I have enjoyed seeing students encourage each other and take more ownership of practicing their facts.\r\nWhen the materials arrived, students were interested in seeing how the sticker charts worked and what they could do to earn their next sticker. The charts gave students something concrete to work toward and helped make their progress easier to see.\r\nOur next step is to continue building multiplication fluency and accuracy. Students will keep practicing their facts during warm-ups, centers, and small groups while working toward their individual goals. The pinnies have also made it easier to organize teams during PE activities.\r\nOur next step is to continue building multiplication and division fluency while working toward greater independence with long division. I will use students' work on the boards to identify skills they have mastered and areas that need more practice. Some students had never had the opportunity to use equipment like this before, so seeing their excitement and curiosity was really special. It reminded me how much new resources can make students feel excited about coming together and learning.\r\n\r\n\r\nWe will continue using the equipment to build our volleyball skills, coordination, and teamwork. Students will practice with partners and small groups while learning how to communicate, encourage one another, and work as a team. My goal is for every student to feel included and have an opportunity to participate, improve, and have fun.
