They can point to where their brain, heart, lungs and stomach are in their bodies and place the plastic models in position on the body cutouts. My class was so excited to pick the material and style of clothing for each of their bodies, but when we brought out the cutouts of the body parts they were super proud that they knew where to put them. We made an interactive book with their dressed cutout on the front cover. On the inside, is a class poem and an interactive cutout with a student-drawn skeleton that can be lifted up to reveal the organs. The lungs even lift up to show the heart! Since other cubbies were too expensive to purchase using the funds I received, DonorsChoose had me pick other materials to support my classroom. \r\n\r\nMy students love to do arts & crafts which is why I purchases arts & crafts materials with the funds. I was able to make another DonorsChoose project to pay for more expensive cubbies. That project was fully funded as well. In the photos you see them using those new arts and craft supplies to turn a pumpkin into a Jack-o-lantern. They were thrilled!!\r\n\r\nI also purchased some stamps and stamp pads that the kiddos use in our classroom art center. Teaching about butterflies is one of my favorite lessons. It also ranks high in student engagement and fun in the classroom. Students were able to help set up the garden by planting the Milkweed seeds. They helped plant the seeds and take care of them. I love to see their engagement and desire to take care of the seeds. \r\n\r\nThe students take great pride in our class garden and cannot wait to see the Monarch Butterflies come next year. They look forward to the continuous visits from the Monarchs. I greatly appreciate your help in bringing the Native California Milkweed to our garden.
