Because of your generosity, my students now have individual earbuds, glue sticks for hands-on projects, and disinfecting wipes to help keep our learning space clean and safe. In a Special Day Class setting, access to personal headphones has been especially impactful. Many of my students use text-to-speech tools, online reading programs, and instructional videos as part of their daily learning. Having their own earbuds allows them to focus, listen at their own pace, and build independence without distractions.\r\n\r\nThe glue sticks have allowed us to fully participate in interactive notebook activities and project-based lessons. Instead of simply answering questions on worksheets, students are cutting, sorting, organizing ideas, and creating visual models that help concepts stick. When the supplies arrived, students were genuinely excited to have materials that were just for our classroom. It may seem simple, but having enough glue and working headphones removes barriers that can sometimes stop learning before it begins.\r\n\r\nThe disinfecting wipes have also made a meaningful difference. Students take pride in helping clean shared surfaces and Chromebooks, reinforcing lessons about hygiene and health responsibility that we discuss in class. These materials are not just supplies — they create a structured, supportive, and safe learning environment where my students can thrive.\r\n\r\nYour support helps us build independence, confidence, and real-world skills every single day. Thank you for i]nvesting in my students and believing in their success.","fullyFundedDate":1752671523445,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-our-science-learning-environme/9321914/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Our Science Learning Environment","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Diaz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7827268_orig.jpg?crop=1196,1196,x358,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1717977340707","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7827268"},{"teacherId":10377787,"projectId":9949706,"letterContent":"Since receiving the new puzzles from DonorsChoose, my students have been using them regularly during class time and structured free time. These puzzles have made a noticeable difference in the classroom, my students are more focused, engaged, and willing to collaborate with one another. I've seen growth not only in their problem-solving skills, but also in their ability to work together and listen carefully as they discuss strategies and solutions.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first received the puzzles, their reaction was pure excitement. They were eager to explore them and immediately began working together, showing joy and enthusiasm throughout the activity. Thanks to our donors, students were able to enjoy a hands-on learning experience that truly supports their growth. The next step is to continue incorporating the puzzles into our daily routine, allowing students to use them during class and free time to stay engaged, motivated, and happy while learning.","fullyFundedDate":1765207081662,"projectUrl":"project/mind-builders/9949706/","projectTitle":"Mind Builders","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Araux","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-4_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10377787"},{"teacherId":9873789,"projectId":9006099,"letterContent":"I'm so sorry for the late update on this project! If it makes you feel better, I was spending the time putting your books to good use the past semester - my 7th graders were VERY appreciative of the fresh books (though, I must say, my old 8th graders' jealousy probably exceeded their gratitude). From a teaching perspective, these books allowed me to teach lessons so much more smoothly than last year, and as I tucked the 40 tatter-less covers away last week next to the few tattered books that are remaining in my cupboard, I felt another surge of gratitude.\r\n\r\nA few assignments that these books helped my students complete:\r\n- Reading checks\r\n- Choice board project (poster, timelines, and slideshows!)\r\n- Personal writing describing what characters they connected with\r\n- Evidence scavenger hunt\r\n- Passage analyses\r\n\r\nThe students also LOVED the book this year - in my end-of-semester survey, I asked them to rate their enjoyment of the book on a scale of 1 to 5, and out of 121 students, 73 rated the book as a 5/5, and only 7 rated it below a 3 (which, for middle schoolers, is fantastic). What's even better, the books are well-made and still in the EXACT same condition I received them in (thanks to some very pointed coaching on how to handle the books with care). They will continue to benefit my classroom and instruction for years to come.","fullyFundedDate":1742963124690,"projectUrl":"project/quality-story-tattered-pages/9006099/","projectTitle":"Quality Story, Tattered Pages","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Hardy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9873789_orig.jpg?crop=1355,1355,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1734136688353","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9873789"},{"teacherId":9520574,"projectId":9301542,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, I've been able to purchase a variety of new materials that have made a real difference in my classroom. This variety has given them fresh opportunities to practice skills each day and has helped me better meet their diverse learning needs.\r\n\r\nAlready, I've noticed a change in how students are responding. They are more engaged, eager to participate, and confident in their work because the activities are accessible and relevant to their level. As a Special Day Class teacher, many of my students benefit from structured, visual, and interactive resources. These new materials have allowed us to engage in lessons on nutrition, body systems, and overall wellness in a way that feels accessible and exciting rather than overwhelming.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new supplies, their reactions were immediate — smiles, curiosity, and so many questions. They were eager to use the materials and felt proud knowing that people cared enough about their education to support them. We recently used the resources during a lesson on healthy food choices and balanced meals, and students were able to actively participate in sorting, discussing, and identifying nutrients in real-world examples. The hands-on experience helped them better understand how their daily choices impact their physical health and energy levels.\r\n\r\nThese resources are also helping us build independence and confidence. Students are practicing academic vocabulary, participating in group discussions, and connecting health concepts to their own lives. Our next steps include deeper exploration into personal wellness, stress management, and making informed decisions about their health.
