The bean bags and fidget toys are used during problem-solving rotations, math warm ups, and small group work where students tackle multi-step challenges. One moment that stood out was during a collaborative algebra project: students worked in teams to solve real-world problems involving exponential equations, and a group that chose the comfy corner stayed deeply focused, using fidget toys while discussing strategies. They not only solved the problems accurately but were able to clearly explain their thinking to the class, showing a level of confidence and persistence that doesn't always come easily in math.\r\n\r\nWhen students first saw the materials, their excitement was immediate! There were big smiles, curiosity, and lots of eagerness to try out the space. What was especially powerful was how quickly they connected the corner to focus and calm, not just comfort. Students who sometimes feel anxious about math began to use the space as a way to reset and re-engage, while others saw it as a supportive environment to push their thinking further. It has helped create a classroom culture where students feel more at ease taking risks, asking questions, and working through challenging concepts.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are continuing to build the comfy corner into our math routines. As we move into projects involving data analysis and mathematical modeling, students will use the space to collaborate, organize their thinking, and test out problem-solving strategies. We are also incorporating more reflection, where students evaluate their approach to solving problems and set goals for improvement. Thanks to your support, this space has become more than just a comfortable hang out spot, it's a place where students can build confidence, develop perseverance, and deepen their understanding of math in a supportive environment.","fullyFundedDate":1768886492921,"projectUrl":"project/comfy-corner-for-teens/9830280/","projectTitle":"Comfy Corner for Teens","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gaby","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9807670_orig.jpg?crop=3359,3359,x0,y55&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758897247697","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9807670"},{"teacherId":8297069,"projectId":9068327,"letterContent":"Receiving basic art supplies like pencils and blending stumps makes a huge impact in our classroom. The iron filings were also amazing to help them visualize the magnetic field lines.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, my MESA engineering students were very eager to use the solar car kits. They were able to implement the engineering design process by revising their car features to optimize how much energy was converted to maximize the distance traveled by the solar cars.\r\n\r\nUltimately, the students were satisfied with the new classroom materials and are more interested in exploring STEM careers. Your support has truly made a meaningful difference in the lives of my students. The calming space you helped create in our special education classroom has become an invaluable resource for our students, offering them a peaceful retreat when they need to reset emotionally or recharge before continuing their learning. We've already seen a positive shift in how our students engage with each other and their work. For instance, one of my students, who typically struggles with anxiety, has begun to use the sensory tools and soft seating in the Calm Corner to self-regulate, allowing them to return to class with a renewed sense of focus.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with joy and curiosity. It was a wonderful moment to witness. They've been eager to explore the space - especially the sensory toys - and we've already seen it become a go-to place for students who need a break or a moment of quiet. The resources you provided have helped students not only manage stress but also become more aware of how to take care of their mental health. It's amazing to see them developing these important coping skills.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we're continuing to incorporate the Calm Corner into our daily routines. As part of a larger classroom lesson on mindfulness and emotional well-being, we plan to use the space regularly to practice grounding techniques and mindfulness exercises. The calming environment you helped create has laid the foundation for our students to build resilience and emotional strength, and we are excited to see how they grow as a result.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generosity and for helping make this project possible. Your support has had a lasting impact on our classroom, and we are so grateful for you.","fullyFundedDate":1754937753494,"projectUrl":"project/svahs-brand-new-sped-classroom-needs-a/9444888/","projectTitle":"SVAH's Brand New Sped Classroom Needs a Calm Corner","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Bluestone","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10056074_orig.jpg?crop=1365,1365,x0,y95&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1751839011579","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10056074"},{"teacherId":8297069,"projectId":9068332,"letterContent":"My students and I were so excited to receive and read these books!\r\nWe were able to see great examples of photos, photos with people who look like us, photos of our neighborhood and guides to take great photos.
