Many of my students began the year struggling with fine motor skills. Using their hands to work with Play-dough is a fun way to exercise their fine motor muscles. They were elated with joy when they saw the shipment of Play-dough and tools arrive. They had not been able to work at this center because we had no Play-dough, so they were thrilled when the materials arrived and I took them out to place at the center. \r\n They use the Play-dough two-three times a week. I have seen improvement in their writing, which has been helped by daily exercising their fine motor skills. They have so much fun and do not even know they are exercising an important skill. \r\n The next steps are to have students create letters with the materials in order to combine the Play-dough with language arts and specifically help the students who are struggling with alphabet knowledge.
