Instead of running scantrons through a machine my tests can be given online, similar to AP Tests and college formats, and they are automatically graded for quick feedback to students. Besides testing the school has subscriptions to amazing sites like GIZMOS that allow students to do virtual STEM cases where they act as veterinarians, medical investigators, or ecologists. The problem with relying on computers for these activities and tests is that students regularly forget theirs, forget to charge theirs, or sometimes the computer stops working properly for one reason or another (needs updates). \r\n\r\nLucky for us my prayers have been answered. By providing me with 5 loaner laptops I always have just enough to loan out to students in need. Just today we needed to take an internal assessment on PERFORMANCE MATTERS and several student's computers would not connect. Vioila- I produced the loaners. \r\n\r\nWhen we did our digital microscope lab the same computers allowed each lab station to have a computer connected as a display. \r\n\r\nThe students were so happy to know you funded these computers because it means they can always stay on schedule and complete the assigned work during class time. With their busy schedules with after school sports, music, and drama there is little time to come in later for a makeup test or to do the work that they needed a computer for.","fullyFundedDate":1756737814134,"projectUrl":"project/reduce-stress-on-test-days-by-funding-fi/9669531/","projectTitle":"Reduce Stress on Test Days by Funding Five Loaner Laptops","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Julie Benke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10214099_orig.png?crop=364,364,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755823564653","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10214099"},{"teacherId":10214099,"projectId":9662587,"letterContent":"On Friday before Thanksgiving Break I unboxed the probes and told them about the lab. They were so excited to see the vernier probes and start experimenting with them already since we had been studying cell respiration in depth. A few boys invented exercise contests to see who could generate the most CO2 in their exhalations- running around the school up and down stairs or doing planks. It was a fun way to end the long week. On Tuesday, everyone will do the official AP Lab. I have various species of plant seed and peas imbibing water and by then they will be actively germinating and undergoing a ton of cell division to grow- with high energy demands to produce ATP to fuel the mitosis there will be CO2 released. Peas, Beans, Corn, Flowers, meal worms. Gram for gram does one species generate more CO2 per minute than another? Do non germinating peas/seeds generate CO2? Do they need energy? Does the temperature of the environment effect the rate of production? The students had so many questions and they are excited to be able to easily capture the data so easily using the vernier carbon dioxide gas probes. \r\n\r\nDue to the generous donations and 10x matching by Google there is enough equipment for six groups of students to test two specimen at a time. Carbon Dioxide levels are recorded in a data table and automatically show up in a graph. They are so happy to have a fool proof way to collect excellent results so they can focus on hypothesis testing and getting a professional lab report completed with autogenerated data tables and graphs.","fullyFundedDate":1756671180063,"projectUrl":"project/vernier-probeware-to-help-ap-bio-student/9662587/","projectTitle":"Vernier Probeware to Help AP Bio Students Experiment like Pros","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Julie Benke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10214099_orig.png?crop=364,364,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755823564653","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10214099"},{"teacherId":1396475,"projectId":9790615,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for funding the project to help our students. My students have received letters from Paris on paper. First, I scan these in to save them from getting lost in the process. Students get to choose their pen pals while I make sure that they all have a copy (printer) of their pen pal's letter, on which they also correct the Parisians' English - the French will return the favor. As needed, I make more copies (printer) to even out the numbers between French and Pali pen pals. Students receive sample letters and rubrics (printer, printer) to help them hand-write their very own letters. Students will have questions on how to say certain things, and the printer helps again when reminders need to be printed, as for example about the differences in class level designations in France and in California. Some outgoing letters may need to be printed (printer; from students who are late), because I send out the whole lot of letters over the Thanksgiving break to my fellow teacher in Paris. Both of us teachers are witness to great joy as such letters are then given out to their addressees. They are a sure means to lead to more engagement on all sides!\r\n\r\nPlease see the very happy and busy students who volunteered to be photographed to thank you for your support!\r\n\r\nWarm greetings, merci beaucoup!","fullyFundedDate":1756262817510,"projectUrl":"project/help-us-replace-printer-lost-to-the-fire/9648709/","projectTitle":"Help Us Replace Printer Lost to the Fire","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Pichlbauer","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10222617"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_7249","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2991,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":9,"percentWhite":50,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.9,"schoolId":7249,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Palisades Charter High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Palisades Charter High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/los-angeles-unified-school-district/palisades-charter-high-school/7249"}
