This club really fills a social void that our school needs. It is a place where our interns feel safe to gather and talk to people that they may not know, while also practicing independent living skills when making choices of how they want their toast to look. \r\n\r\nThe interns were so excited at the selection that this project offered to us. It gives our interns freedom to explore different tastes which gives them more to practice their descriptive words and social skills. As you will see in the pictures, we have beautiful backgrounds now as well as decorations to make the Multi-purpose room look amazing for dances. The lights make it look like a real dance venue. The leadership students are so proud of the work they are doing on the dances and it makes such a difference to have actual supplies to work with and help inspire. These materials have ensured that the whole school enjoys the dances and have helped improve student socialization. The students are making memories at the dances and with our fabulous photo backdrops. \r\n In addition to use at dances we are using the bubble and fog machine at our intramural sports games. Twice a semester we put on a intramural sports tournament. The students practice at lunch and then we invite students, families and alumni to come watch the game. We use the smoke machine to introduce the teams and the students were SO excited. We also started a cheer program and used the bubble machine for the cheer performance. Because of the array of ingredients available interns had a lot more to discuss about how their toast ended up different or similar.
