My students were so excited to read the new books! They buddy-read with a friend and the room was filled with joy. The books are super engaging and colorful. The fiction books are very funny and the non-fiction texts are very interesting! After reading their non-fiction text, they learned more about the subject by researching on YouTube Kids. They are writing their non-fiction reports in teams of two and the Times for Kids books contain so much information it makes writing facts and organizing them into chapters so much easier for them. \r\n \r\n The sets of 6 books are being used for small group instruction. As a teacher, I firmly believe small group instruction gets big leaps in reading levels. I have a range of reading levels in my class from kindergarten to third grade. The book sets are a variety of levels so each group has the just right book. The phonics readers are really helping my emerging readers gain fluency. For my emerging readers they take their books home to practice with their families.\r\n\r\nThank you for your generosity. My students are loving their calm corner. Whenever they feel overwhelmed or are struggling to stay calm they choose a book and go to the calm area. Here they can use the strategies posters and books to help them identify what they are feeling and what they can do to feel better. Once they feel that are calm they go back and join the group. This allows them to be ready for learning. \r\nHaving your emotions in check is crucial for learning. Children cannot learn when they do not feel well.
