They also appreciate the hand sanitizer since flu season is approaching and they want to stay clean.\r\n\r\nI'm so grateful for the whiteboard supplies since I use Expo markers on a daily basis. The microfiber cloths are much more efficient than the typical erasers and having the cleaning spray makes it even better. I also use the note pad for reminders and to create my to-do lists. We have been asking questions like \"Why can't a football helmet prevent all concussions?\" and \"Has driving a car become safer over the years?\"\r\n To strengthen their engineering skills, students designed a device to minimize the force on a dropped object. We used to use eggs, but this year we were able to use these amazing reusable water balloons! Some pictures of our solutions and test subjects are attached here. It was a challenge, and there were many new ideas generated by all voices in the classroom.\r\n Students loved be able to re- engineer their prototypes and try again- it was very easy to do this with the reusable balloons. As students walk into the classroom, they follow the same routine every day. They take their seats, pull out their book, and engage in silent sustained reading for 10 minutes. One of the most fond moments that I recall when opening the box of books was seeing my students' eyes widen with joy as they smelled the brand new pages. They were also overjoyed that they would be the first group of students that would read these books.
