This only being my second year as a Yearbook Advisor, the main struggle I had was getting enough cameras for the many students that were interested in learning and taking pictures. Last year, I only had two cameras. One was lent to me by a coworker, and the other camera was my personal camera. \r\n\r\nNow, more students are able to, sometimes for the first time, learn about photography, be more engaged with their school, and their peers. Without this technology, my students would not be able to capture memories that will not only teach them the basics of photography, but allow them to have fun and participate in an extracurricular activity. \r\n\r\nI am committed in producing a high quality Yearbook that everyone will enjoy. It was amazing to see them take ownership of their time and space in a way that supported both their academic and emotional needs.\r\n\r\nTheir reactions were priceless—pure excitement and gratitude. One student looked at the snacks and said, \"You mean we don't have to ask every time?\" Another was thrilled to see a charger station, exclaiming, \"Now I won't lose work just because my Chromebook died!\" It gave them a real sense of respect and trust, knowing the space was created with them in mind.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're encouraging students to set weekly goals that include both academic tasks and self-care check-ins. The R&R space plays a big role in that—it gives them a safe place to decompress, reflect, and manage their energy.
