At our school 90% of our student population comes from low-income families. In my classroom, students learn about the Hispanic culture and how to communicate in Spanish. By learning about the Hispanic culture they become a well-rounded student with an open-mind while improving their communication skills, both in writing and speaking.
My students come from low-income homes and parents who try to provide their children with the best education possible. However, sometimes they lack materials that will enhance their education.
I try to incorporate activities that are real-world based and culturally engaging that will allow them to understand how Spanish is a tool they can use in the real-world. However, sometimes we lack the ability to afford some of the technology needed for my students to practice in a judgement-free environment where they can learn from their mistakes and learn from them.
