When I first stepped into my classroom, I began with so little. You never truly realize how many materials it takes to run a classroom smoothly until you don't have access to even the most basic things—pencils, markers, whiteboards, cleaning supplies, and all the small essentials that help a day of learning feel calm, organized, and purposeful. Creating this DonorsChoose project came from that place of need, but also from a place of hope. Hope that someone out there would believe in my students, hope that someone would care enough to support a classroom they had never seen, and hope that I could give my kids a space they truly deserve. Because of you, that hope became a reality.\r\n\r\nYour donation did far more than provide classroom essentials—it transformed the way our days feel. Every single item matters. The markers that help students show their thinking, the whiteboards that let them participate confidently, the organizational tools that help our lessons flow, and even the cleaning supplies that keep our room safe and welcoming—each one has made a genuine difference. These materials give my students structure, access, comfort, and the message that their learning is worth investing in.\r\n\r\nEvery morning, when I walk into my classroom, I see your generosity reflected everywhere. It's in the sharpened pencils that help students begin their writing with pride. It's in the neat, labeled spaces that allow them to find what they need and take responsibility for their materials. It's in the tools that make our lessons more interactive, engaging, and joyful. And most importantly, it's in my students' faces—their excitement, their confidence, and their understanding that people beyond our school believe in their potential.\r\n\r\nAs a first-year teacher, I cannot fully express how much this support means. In just three months, I have learned more than I ever expected—about teaching, about my students, and about myself. There are many moments where this work can feel overwhelming, but your generosity reminded me that I am not doing this alone. You reminded me that there are people who believe in teachers, who value public education, and who understand the profound impact of investing in children.\r\n\r\nBecause of you, my students have a classroom that feels intentional, organized, and full of possibility. They have the materials they need to collaborate, create, problem solve, and grow. They have a space that feels like theirs—one where they can take risks, share their voices, and feel proud of their successes. This is a gift I will never forget.\r\n\r\nThank you, from the bottom of my heart, for giving my students the tools they need to thrive. Thank you for believing in me as I begin my teaching career. And thank you for becoming part of a story my students will carry with them—one where strangers chose to invest in their futures simply because they believed they were worth it.\r\n\r\nI am so excited to see how much more my students and I will grow together this unforgettable year. Your generosity helped plant that seed, and for that, I am endlessly grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1755754338422,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-essentials-for-a-1st-year-teac/9614431/","projectTitle":"Classroom Essentials for a 1st Year Teacher","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Carreon","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10032875_orig.png?crop=884,884,x0,y76&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755396207705","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mscarreons-class"},{"teacherId":9631661,"projectId":8783872,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for donating to our classroom. They were also so excited to see that they have new books in the library to read.\r\n\r\nOur differentiated centers have made a huge impact on student growth in my classroom. The tracing kit allows my few students with their letter formation as well as practicing their fine motor skills. \r\n\r\nThe pocket chart was also a useful tool for my entire class since I can turn it into a word wall! They are able to see our sight words organized in one area of the classroom now.\r\n\r\nThe donated item I was most excited about were the chair bands!
