Our carpet was very dirty and students were not comfortable working on it. We are using our new carpet to collaborate and create structures that are sturdy and free standing. This unit is a part of a team building project that helps students to learn to work as a group. Each student is responsible for a position, and to depend on each other to complete the tasks together.\r\n We also use the carpet to work on math addition and subtraction games. The real life examples help students to get a concrete idea of numbers, creating strong number sense. This allows them to move around in small groups.
